Youngest players in NBA history to score 40 points in a game: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards.
Well, that's something.

From early in the game.
Anthony Edwards is putting on a scoring clinic and was immediately pulled after failing to hustle back on defense.
Chris Finch is the goods, man.

Re: Wolves @ Suns GDT
I was working all night tonight and had no idea what was going on in this game. Then I opened up ESPN.com and saw the score. Yes, I was surprised. I'll definitely have to watch the recording tomorrow. In the meantime, I've had to do a couple double-takes on the box score.
Looks like Any had an incredible game. I noticed that there were some complaints about how many threes he took. But I can't complain about 42 points on 48% field goal shooting. As for his 3-point shooting, consider the fact that by hitting just one more three, his 3-point percentage would have been 38%, which is considered really good. If scores 40 points on nearly 50% shooting from the field, I'll live with him going 4-13 from behind the arc. I also liked that he had 7 rebounds and 2 steals, which wasn't an anomaly. He's already shown that, unlike Wiggins, he does other things. The fact that he was 15-31 shooting tells me that he must have had a lot of points at the rim. Is that right? LaMello BAll remains the leading candidate for ROY. But Edwards is starting to come on. Rosas still hasn't won me over, but he may have hit pay dirt with the Edwards pick.
I noticed that KAT had 41 points. Nice to see KAT starting to get his game back. After all he's been through and without any training camp, I'm not surprised that he's underachieved thus far in relatively few games this season. But I knew he'd break out eventually. His stat line, with 10 rebounds and 8 assists, was impressive beyond his 41 points. KAT hasn't reached his full potential yet. We're starting to see the rest of his skill set show itself in his ability to pass and set up his teammates. His defense has also noticeably improved this season.
After seeing the stat lines of Edwards and KAT in the box score, I have to ask this question of those who watched the game: Where in the world was the rest of the team??

To answer your last question, legit everyone else was pathetic until the 4th Q. Like it was bad! Then in the 4th Hernangomez played really well, hit 2 key 3s and the clinching bucket. Nowell knocked down some shots and then Okogie was fantastic on D. Booker was 0-2 with 1 pt in the 4th with Okogie guarding him.
You'll enjoy this one lip. This game gets me legit excited of what could happen with this team

Thanks, Kek. I'm definitely looking forward to watching this one. If we have enough scorers, then Okogie is a very valuable role player on this team. Having Okogie as our starting PF or even starting PF was unfair to both him and the team. We seem to have a good head coach now who understands the proper role for each of his players.

Re: Wolves @ Suns GDT
The criticism of Anthony Edwards' shot selection was warranted when I said it during the game and it still is. He's a 31.8-percent shooter from three for the season and he shot 4-13 (30.8-percent) tonight. That's not his game no matter how bad he wants it to be. His best attributes make him a force in the paint and at the rim. Frankly, he has no business shooting 13 threes in a game as that's the shot the defense is wanting him to take. Consider this: Edwards shot 15-31 (48.4-percent) from the field, which is good, but he shot 11-18 (61.1-percent) from inside the arc and 10-14 (71.4-percent!) in the painted area, which is outstanding. His focus should be getting downhill and putting pressure on the rim as much as possible -- not taking difficult, contested threes that don't have a great chance of going in.
Additionally, Edwards is less likely to earn trips to the free throw line by hoisting threes. He shot 13 free throws in this game making eight of them. How many more trips to the line could he have had if he didn't settle as much as he did? These are the coaching points I hope Chris Finch is stressing to Edwards behind closed doors. Simply put, he's a better and far more efficient scorer inside the three-point line and he could have been even more dangerous tonight.

Something I appreciated being at the game. Juancho and Ricky play intelligent and disruptive weakside D. It made a difference tonight getting in the way of certain sets the Suns were running. Juancho wasn't too bad on the strong side either.
Also watching McDaniels on ball defense is a joy. Dude is a pest.

So envious you got to attend a basketball game, Phenom...makes me feel the world is eventually going to get back to normal! And I couldn't agree more on McDaniels. When I'm watching the replay, I often rewind just to marvel at his defense. I've gone back and read pre-draft profiles, and there's no hint that he would be the defender he already is...his defensive upside is exciting.
