Here we go- Wolves vs. Houston GDT
Here we go- Wolves vs. Houston GDT
My honey decided to schedule dinner with her parents on opening night at their home that doesn't have a TV station that gets Wolves' games. So I dutifully show up, and plan to watch this game later tonight on DVR. As always I'm excited about the opening of the season, so I'm getting an early start on the first GDT.
Obviously we have to win this game. Houston was horrible last year, so the 5 1/2 point spread is a slap at our Wolves IMO. I suspect we see Okogie starting at PF and matched up on Green, with Jaden on Wood and KAT on Theis...I like those matchups. I'm looking forward to watching Houston's young players, especially Green, Sengun and Porter. Green and Porter have the potential to go off against us, although neither has proven to be a very accurate shooter beyond the arc.
Of course I'll be watching DLo tonight as I'm on record that he is the key to this team challenging for a playoff spot. We need him to be engaged on defense and smart on offense...if he is, this team could be fairly good. We especially need a good game from him with PatBev out and JMac and Nowell doubtful. He may have to play 40 minutes, because I don't like the other options at PG. I'm also naively interested in seeing whether Okogie's talk about being a better shooter (along with some surprising success in preseason) has any legs- that would really be a bonus for this team if he could shoot anywhere near his college numbers. And I want to see if the talk about Ant's improved defense is true.
Let's go Wolves!

This is a blatant and callous attempt by FNG to steal my "Abe's Late Night DVR Review" bit.
Welcome to the club. You will NOT go back to the commercials, halftime delays, instant replay delays, free throws and everything else. Enjoy those extra 67 minutes of your life back...
82 x 67 = 593,468 minutes per season! That's like 23 full days! Or something.

I'm following US men's soccer which is in the midst of qualifiers for the next World Cup. They basically have one window of play per month where they travel to be with the national team and play 2-3 games. There are a total of 14 games played over a series of multiple windows. How they do in those 14 games - most of which will have no more than 2 or 3 goals scored cumulatively - will determine if they go to Qatar or not.
Anywho, the contrast between what is at stake with each window, each game, and each goal is enormous compared to what's at stake in the NBA for each week, each game, each basket. In other words, yes, we should win this game tonight. No, it's not the end of the world if we lose and if DLO goes 0-4 from 3 with 5 turnovers it doesn't mean he'll suck the rest of the season.
That being said.....Go Wolves!

One of the best parts about the condensed games on NFL Game pass is not having to listen to the announcers.
Watching the games later is worth it for all the reason you stated.

I hate watching my favorite team's games after I already know the result. It takes a lot out of the enjoyment for me. We've all had to do it and it's far better than not seeing the game at all, but I would never be able to consciously do that for a season. I respect those that do, though! You're stronger than me!

But the rub is... I don't know the result. Otherwise, I'd be right there with you.
Maybe it's easier because I'm not a social media devotee, so I've been able to avoid knowing the score the vast majority of the time.
It's usually only like a 2- or 3-hour window of avoiding the score...

Forgive me in advance if I blame the bad play on Rubio. Old habits die hard.
