Fomer Wolves Sightings!

Post by AbeVigodaLive »

- Ed Davis is still in the NBA! He played his first 51 seconds of the season for the Cavs last night. Remember when the Wolves gave up TWO 2nd round picks to get him... one day after New York acquired him WITH a 2nd round pick?

- Ricky Rubio is also with the Cavs. Interesting nugget about Ricky... he shot 38.8% or worse in 6 of his 7 seasons in Minnesota. His career high with the team was 40.2%. He's shot higher than that in all four of his seasons with other teams... and is at 43.3% early this season.

- Kevin Love is ALSO with the Cavs. He's 4th on the team's big man depth chart and a key part of their bench units. Not a bad gig for $31M. By the way, the Cavs are now 3 - 2.

I have an affinity for both Love and Rubio - smart players that know how to play the game, if not the most athletic. Love's career-best year was the season before he was traded. He was a legit top 12 player that year.

It's just maddening to me to see Rubio struggle all those years shooting the ball with us, but suddenly - voila! - can hit the open 3 once not wearing a Wolves uniform. Gah! This happens all too often with this franchise.

Yeah, both are definitely in my top 10 favorite Wolves too. Cleveland is one of my fun teams to watch this year...3 ex-Wolves and my favorite rookie Mobley putting up nice numbers. Playoff team I think.

Yes. Culver has played 6 minutes in one of the four games.

Unfortunately, about all he did was lower his career three point percentage from 28.8% to 28.6%.
He did make 1 out of 2 free throws though... so he remains right on his career 50% mark!

Hernangomez seems to be spending most of his time sitting next to Enes Kanter at the end of the Celtics bench.

Can anybody explain why they traded Bev for those two?

I'm not sure why Memphis wasn't able to get more than just those two, but at one point this off-season they had Ja Morant, Tyus Jones, Patrick Beverley, and Rajon Rondo on the roster. Moves had to be made there, especially given how many players over the 15-man limit they had. I wonder if it lowered what teams were willing to give up for him. That trade was an immediate win for Minnesota and it's only proven to be better and better ever since.

I think they think there I might be something worthwhile still with Culver. I tend to agree even if it's a just a worthwhile defensive wing. Meanwhile in that trade they saved money around 1 million. When they moved Juancho they saved some more money although they gave Boston 2nd round pick swap rights in 2026. Is Kris Dunn (who they got back for Juancho) not healthy? If he is then it's kinda shocking he isn't on an NBA roster. It's still amazing that we ended up with Beverly though.

I thought Dunn was the last cut for Memphis?

Also Culver will make a really good Assistant coach at Texas Tech in a few more years.
