Jester in game review
Well I lucked out and got row 3 tickets for $100 bucks each. So tonight so my wife and I went to the game.
So here's some thoughts and things I saw tonight.
Obviously it's hard to win a game when Beasley and DLO shoot so horribly.
I heard the ref actually say that Towns is such a cry baby when they were huddle up by us during
The first quarter break.
Patrick Beverley is going to be great for this team. The amount of times he was pulling over guys to talk and tell them what to do on defense. It was like having a second coach out there.
I didn't agree with finch call to start the 4th with all the back ups. Ant was hot in that 3rd quarter i would've let it ride.
I sat two rows behind Arod and I have to say his genuine reaction to what was going was nice to see. He got really amped up when they made that run in the 3rd.
Valanciunas is big man and I can see why towns struggles against him.
I though Ingram showed why good offense always triumphs what ever defense you throw at him. I didn't think mcdaniels played that bad of on ball d on him.
I really think we should've tried a Kat Naz
Line up tonight to see if we could get Naz going. Because he's been atrocious so far this year.
Overall it was fun to sit with rich people as the new gopher coach and Ihlan Omar sat in front of us.
Also the complimentary beer and wine weren't bad either lol

Good stuff Jester, glad you were treated to such good seats.
Ingram also shows how having a smooth mid-range shot can win games for you. He was cashing in on a lot of 15-20 footers tonight and looked good doing it.

Yep I told my wife if he can just stay healthy he's real good player.
Also forgot to add one thing I hated at the end of the game. Kat went to Ant and said get yourself one here. Aka make a meaningless 3 pointer to stuff your stats.
Our freaking team leader is teaching our young star to stat hunt I found it disgusting. It just confirmed to me Kat can say he wants to win but in the end it's about his stat line and won't take responsibility for the lost even though I could argue his first quarter tantrum killed this game early on.

Glad you got to enjoy a night of Wolves basketball, jester, and I hope the medical issues you were dealing with in previous months have subsided. I can't disagree with anything you mentioned above. I definitely didn't like the unit Chris Finch rolled out to start the fourth quarter -- McLaughlin, Beverley, Prince, Vanderbilt, Reid. It was weird on multiple levels and accomplished nothing other than getting the starters a blow. I think, at least, Edwards should have remained on the floor assuming he didn't want to take a breather. It was his show at that point in time.
Anyways, hopefully they perform much better in Milwaukee and show some improvements offensively while keeping a similar level of defensive proficiency.

Crazy that the ref is actually calling KAT a crybaby. That is all you need to know. If he cant figure out how to shut the fuck up its not going to get any better. I think you're totally right about Ant. He was red hot, ride him the whole way.

Yes the heart is doing well. They finally got the residual water build up to go away with aspirin therapy. I go back in a month for another check up I just hope it's fully behind me then.
Just reminder to always go in if you fell uncomfortable. Especially with chest pains. I'm only 32 and if I didn't have my wife here to tell me to go get checked I wouldn't be here today. You never to young to have stuff happen to you.

Glad you got things checked out and under control, Jester. I was having a strange feeling in my chest several years. Like you, it was my wife who had me get it checked. Turned out I had a really rapid heart rate - tachycardia is what they all it. They prescribed a drug and monitored me for several months. It eventually went away and I don't need to take any meds for it. You never know. Glad you're OK.
You obviously had great seats tonight. It's a totally different game when you sit that close. I was directly across from you 11 rows up. I always get a good look at A-Rod and Lore and I agree it's fun to watch both of them. They're both true, competitive fans. I agree with your observations.
Re: Jester in game review
I'll just share my thoughts in Jester's game thread. Yes, I was disappointed in KAT's immaturity. And yes, I wish Edwards had turned it on for more than two quarters. But those two guys were the only bright spots for the Wolves tonight. They both did what they needed to to and then some for the Wolves to win. Ant was quiet in the first half offensively, but watching him explode and carry the team on his back in the 3rd quarter to close the game from 21 to 7 was a thing of beauty and a reminder of what a gem we have in him. He finished with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. That's a solid night's work for the 2nd year player from Georgia. I especially like his 9 rebounds - his second game in a row with 9 boards. Meanwhile, KAT had 32 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He hit 40% of his threes and hit all 8 of his free-throw attempts. You can't expect much more from your top player, except some more maturity. But his immaturity didn't cause tonight's disappointing loss.
So why did the Wolves lose tonight? The answer is as obvious as the sign on the Target Center. It's because no one other than Edwards and KAT, except for Beverley to a limited extent, contributed anything remotely meaningful on the offensive end. DLO had 9 points, hitting only 3 of his 14 field goal attempts and 1 of his 8 three-point attempts. He was a minus 12 and in this case the plus/minus accurately depicted DLO's contribution on the court. Meanwhile, our other supposedly high-scoring guard, Malik Beasley, had only 5 points as he hit only 1 of his 8 FG attempts and 1 of his 7 from behind the arc. At least one if not both of those two have to do MUCH better than they've done the past two games on the offensive side of the ball if this team is going to have any chance of making the playoffs this season. That's three out of three bad games for Beasley and 2 out of 3 bad games for DLO on the offensive end. I still thought DLO played well defensively tonight, but that's not nearly enough from him.
McDaniels had only 3 points and 2 rebounds tonight. I still like him and his upside and I thought he played well defensively in spite of Ingram's success. But McDaniels has to have more of an impact as both a scorer and rebounder. I'll remain patient with him for now, but we need to see more from him. Naz Reid was a non factor offensively and terrible defensively against JV. In any event he only played 8 minutes. KAT at least competed with JV inside and made it thought for him to score. Naz Reid was like a child guarding an adult.
Listening to Finch on the way home I heard him attitude DLO's poor offensive play to a shooting slump. I don't think that explains DLO's putrid performance on Saturday night when he was turning the ball over and playing like he had just finished smoking a particularly potent stash of weed. At least tonight, he wasn't terrible careless with the ball. He was simply missing shots - missing a lot of them. I don't see him continuing to be this bad because I think Finch is right about DLO being in a slump. But the problem with DLO is that most of his shots are bad shots. They are nearly always long AND contested. Steph Curry consistently makes those sort of shots, but DLO is more human and he'll go through streak where he makes a lot of them while also going through streaks we've seen recently where he can't make any of them. I don't know Beasley's story. I guess he might just be in a slump. But his shot looks awkward. He just doesn't look comfortable shooting right now.
I didn't like tonight's loss and I agree with Finch that it's hard to watch this team in their half-court offense. I don't have an answer but I sure hope Finch does. I do like that this team still looked good defensively tonight. I would think that DLO's and Beasley's shooting will come around. Beverley looked like he's getting his three-point stroke back. And I see McDaniels improving as the season wears on. However, the rebounding won't improve without a roster move. And it simply has to improve. This team simply can't continue to get dominated on the boards the way it has the past two games and expect to make the playoffs. JV isn't the only big center in the League. It's time to sign Biyombo, Giles or Cousins. At this point, I'd favor Biyombo or Cousins over Giles.

My hope is that the team spent so much time focusing on defense during camp that they are behind the curve on running sound offensive sets. If that's indeed the case, then I can't blame them for putting focus on a chronic decades-long weakness. But it's tough to watch two home games against an inferior team with such a disjointed and ugly offensive effort.
