I don't believe Morey wants DLO, and that's our biggest problem. Any deal involving the Wolves would have to include DLO because of that glaring need for a PG. Unless we can involve a third team, I don't see how we make this work.
I agree we don't have what the Sixers need but what I think you are also alluding to is...nobody else really is going to give up that type of player either. What is Morey's plan at this point?
A couple of other things I see that are possible missed opportunities for the Sixers and Morey.
Other FAs they could have had.
One example is Schroeder signed for less than 6 million. He wouldn't have answered the PG situation but that would have been a bargain and depending on what else they had gotten back in a deal he may have been a big help. Maybe their were other guys they could have added if they had resolved the Simmons situation earlier.
One guy that is still available is John Wall. Obviously he isn't going to be the guy but if he agreed to a buyout they could just sign him and he would probably help. They already have all the shooting that would be a nice compliment for a wall. If there is still bad blood between Houston and the Sixers then maybe allowing Wall to get bought out so he joins the Sixers might not go smoothly or maybe at all.
To me as ai have laid out in a couple specific players there were/are some other ways the Sixers could possibly add to their roster some reasonably valuable players without costing them any assets. Heck maybe they take an asset rich deal (maybe from the Wolves...) and had signed a guy like Schroeder who would be good enough to keep them going enough till they make that big move on the next player that wants out or is available.
