In a random segue at the end of his playoff preview Zach Lowe mentions that we should tank next year. Could you imagine another year of tanking? How are we ever supposed to build a real team when no one takes us seriously? We just tanked for 25 years outside of one Thibs season. Insane.

I've lost respect for Zach Lowe and his takes over the last several seasons. I think the recognition and ESPN branding has gotten to him. The very last thing Minnesota needs to do next season is tank.

I noticed that he goes really far to please the players. In every minute criticism of any player he will preface it about how much he loves said player. I think this has become the strangest part of the media coverage of the NBA in the last while. Because the NBA players have so much pull in their league, there is less and less real criticism of players. I don't like the media and players as friends dynamic. It's boring.

It's not player empowerment... it's player entitlement.
They know they can control their own narratives. And they're incredibly savvy in portraying themselves in certain ways. Guys like Woj have been playing the games for years to get the inside scoops. Now, it's reached the Lowes of the world who need those connections, too.

Good find Doper. I went right to Talking Heads' "Road to Nowhere". Seems appropriate. Anyone else?

We never have to try to tank so why actually try to tank next year when we can still try to win, suck and end up tanking anyway?

Haha. The Wolves tank. Its the one thing they can do effortlessly.
Re: Good Ole Talking Heads at it Again
The thing what makes this take just terrible. Not just because Wolves have a former All NBA player and a former All Star player, the thing that is the Wolves could fully tank and have the worst record in the NBA and its still only a 41.1% chance the wolves would even keep our pick. So the Wolves would be throwing away a whole season for a 58.9% chance it would be all for not.
I like Lowe but that is a really bad take.

Should they tank? No.
They won't have to.
The Western Conference is just brutal and someone's gonna have to eat those losses in bulk. They should try their best, aim for as mediocre of a pick as possible to give to Golden State and hope SOMEONE on the team actually develops, because regardless of the talent here, it's super green and there isn't anyone here who can will this team to victory.
