You don't need 5 shooters on the court at all times and he fills a major hole we have on defense with literally nobody who can guard an elite wing right now. Towns loves the perimeter more than banging around in the post so he can chill behind the arc while Ben does the dirty work around the rim. He also speeds up the pace by being able to take a rebound and get the break going and we're gonna need to be a high pace team with the lack of defenders we do have. Simmons with Russell, Beasley and KAT as shooters is a lot of space to work with. Much more than he ever had in Philly.

A lesser league, obviously, but they were just fine at Montverde Academy winning two national championships together. I'd say they're at least familiar with each other.

He's a great, not good defensive player. We need defense too.
The league is encouraging more scoring by the way it is officiated ,adding one good defensive player while sacrificing all of it's shooting isn't gonna stop the other teams from putting up a lot of points. Teams win by having bigtime scorers on the court these days.
Part of the idea of adding Simmons using this pick is you get a legit good player now not wait to find out 3 years later you have a dude or whatever. His shooting is a problem but he brings a lot of positives. Personally I think the problem with adding him is...do we add that guy as the 3rd max guy? Is that really gonna be enough? That's a massive chunk of money on Towns Russell and Simmons and none of them has proven to be max guys...well Towns is worth max money but is he THE guy?

Don't think we can get Simmons without Beasley but I agree with your point.
You can have 1 non-shooter. Especially when Simmons is elite at everything else.
Just so there is no confusing my feelings on this, if you have a chance to get Ben Simmons you do it. I don't think we can land him, but you do everything you have to do short of trading KAT.

I think Ben Simmons has shown enough already to think he can be the guy. He just needs to stay healthy and be surrounded by shooters.

I'll take a 6'10" version of Rubio that can actually finish at the rim...at over 70%
