He's a great, not good defensive player. We need defense too.
The league is encouraging more scoring by the way it is officiated ,adding one good defensive player while sacrificing all of it's shooting isn't gonna stop the other teams from putting up a lot of points. Teams win by having bigtime scorers on the court these days.
Part of the idea of adding Simmons using this pick is you get a legit good player now not wait to find out 3 years later you have a dude or whatever. His shooting is a problem but he brings a lot of positives. Personally I think the problem with adding him is...do we add that guy as the 3rd max guy? Is that really gonna be enough? That's a massive chunk of money on Towns Russell and Simmons and none of them has proven to be max guys...well Towns is worth max money but is he THE guy?
I think Ben Simmons has shown enough already to think he can be the guy. He just needs to stay healthy and be surrounded by shooters.

I'll take a 6'10" version of Rubio that can actually finish at the rim...at over 70%
But won't even consider taking a 3 pt shot. In a three point shot driven league.

If Rubio was 6'10 scoring 16 points a night and defending the opposing team's best player regardless of position we probably would have been a lot better. Instead he was 6'4, was lucky to score 10 points a night and could only guard PG's.
I think Ben Simmons helps this team significantly more than Devin Booker, but I'm happy with either. Frankly if this team wants to compete before Towns leaves we need to go into next year with either Simmons, Booker or Beal as the 3rd guy using this first overall pick and other pieces to get one of them.

I agree. I'd rank them in the same order as you list them here.

Simmons is the perfect fit to KAT as a frontcourt duo in the current wolves system. You get a legit pf size who can play with speed and defend all positions.
You can play and start simmons at the 3 also and it gives us a lot more options as we build our team. We can look for a starting caliber 3 and d sf or a starting caliber 3 and d stretch 4.

The Sixers might come to the conclusion that Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons can't win together for whatever reason and that they need to build around one or the other. That doesn't mean there's red flag attached to either player.

He doesn't fit with Embiid so one of the two has to go. You can't have your two best players clashing on the court for the same space inside the arc. The team plays literally polar opposite whenever one of the two is hurt and you can't build a strong team on the same page with two guys who play different ways, but still need the same court space to play the way they want. Simmons is an up tempo, ball pushing/moving player while Embiid is a through and through half court grind you down on both sides of the court in the paint player.
