How to win games 6 & 7?

Post by Tactical unit »

Game 6 - Home Court in an elimination game should be huge.

How do you think MN fixes everything & wins games 6 & 7?

The fix is basic to me re-enforce fundamentals. MN can beat any team in the league, what it tends to boil down to is defending Pick N' Roll, Rebounding, Fouling & going ISO without actually being committed to running an ISO set. It's like half the team is trying to play a team concept while another player wants to play hero ball. The clock runs down & it becomes a contested shot, exactly what the defense wants. Then "WHOOP THAT TRICK" pushes & attacks before the defense is set, puts MN in scramble mode & if that doesn't work, they immediately attack with Pick N' Roll, swing to open players and crash the glass. Rinse, repeat & MN losses the game.

You don't want to battle the clock, walk the ball up the court & after your first pick there's now 11-8 seconds left. Then hot sauce dribble the ball with everyone else watching until almost no options remain but to heave up a contested shot.

ISO sets should be used to exploit a matchup & get into the set early, attack & as defense helps teammates flash middle / cut baseline / fill in open space on the perimeter. This is an ISO concept the whole team is involved in & plays to an isolated player advantage. If it fails? No big deal because you ran it early in the shot clock & then go hero ball / settle for a contested shot. The whole team should see this developing & focus on getting back to set up defense.

In addition to playing ISO sets with better clock management & team concept version of ISO basketball. Here is my fix....wait for it.....play like a team!

MN should try to create picks for off the ball players to get open (GSW style of play). Run Pick N' Roll, dribble hand off with a backside secondary pick. High post w/ back door action, essentially run plays that create space & can put a player in an advantageous situation to create for himself & the team.

LETS GO WOLVES!
