I love the Onion. I didn't want to bump the old thread because I find it too distracting to flip through 50+ pages (although some of the comments in there are pure gold at this point). Obviously things change. Would people still want Ben Simmons? I'm assuming he could be had at a more reasonable price at this offseason?
Did we dodge a HUGE bullet?

We absolutely dodged a bullet, Carlos. Just underscores the old adage that sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make. As some may recall, I was one of the least inclined on this board to deal for Simmons. But I didn't see the full depth of Ben's dysfunction - whether physical, mental or both. Imagine how we'd feel now if the Wolves had given up Beasley, McDaniels and a bunch of future 1st round picks for Simmons. Whew!

I was always skeptical that the price for Simmons would ever get low enough for the Wolves to get him for an offer I was comfortable with. I also had questions about him mentally/attitude beyond the issues on the court. At this point that seems like that was a valid concern. I was also concerned with his injuries. I do think he was physically injured some of the time since the Nets acquired him.
Look below at the draft pick owed situation for the Nets it's not pretty. I would say that not getting Harden (wasn't ever going happen anyways) AND Simmons was a couple bullets dodged.

Yikes. Thanks for posting. Of course, the other side of the coin is what those picks actually turn into....the Wolves turned two first round picks from the KG/Boston trade into Johnny Flynn and Wayne Ellington. D'oh!
Re: Did we dodge a HUGE bullet?
Given the fragile mental makeup our team already has, Ben Simmons is the last guy we should be adding to our team right now, so yes, in hindsight we should all be glad we weren't able to snag him.
