Still a few days to go before the deadline really makes teams have to do something. Cleveland and the Twins keep giving me hope for the the season. Meanwhile last week on vacation my uncle was saying he thinks his Royals would have a shot at winning the fewest games ever. Lol

I know we have looked better lately, but I am thinking about 2019.

I am thinking 2019 is a building year so trade Gibson and company to focus on 2020.

Erv is the guy I might keep around if he looks good next year because he could be a vet pitcher for a young staff. It might be worth it to look for another 1-year guy like him that is at the end of his career.

This team is good enough it shouldn't be rebuilding next year. I better be getting something pretty good to deal Gibson at this point. 7 games out of the playoffs and .500 is now becoming within reach.

Saw a rumor of Brewers going all in for Dozier, Escobar, and Gibson. We would have to get something good back. I would love to add a highend catcher or 3B with pop to minors.

I don't see a 1 year window situation. This team has some legit young talent and this division doesn't look to be very good. If Gibson is legit this team can pay him. Honestly I just don't see massive returns coming back for anyone else.

As for catcher...Garver's bat has really come alive and is now hitting .271/.354. He has a ways to go behind the plate but if he can hit that would really help. I'm certainly not opposed to adding a catcher though but there is some reason for optimism at least.

Also worth mentioning...I was looking back at a bunch of the starting pitchers from the offseason FA. There are a lot of them that are struggling quite a few of some them even worse than Lynn. That signing hasn't worked out but it could be worse. It was down to him and Cobb at 1 point and I would rather have Lynn on his deal right now for sure. Yikes.

You make some great points. It comes down to if we can get anything. I did a quick look at Brewers farm system. I didn't see anything I would bother trading for beyond Keston Hiura who is a 2B and we are kind of stocked with up the middle prospects.

I can't tell you more than what I've read on ther internet, but I can tel you getting two top 20 prospects in there system and a throw-in is tremoundous value for a rental. I thought I read there rank #11 and #19 in there system.

Duran, 20, was signed by the Diamondbacks in 2015 out of Esperanza, Dominican Republic. The 6-foot-5, 175-pound righthander made 15 starts for Arizona's Low-A affiliate Kane County this season, going 5-4 with a 4.73 ERA (64.2 IP, 34 ER), 28 walks and 71 strikeouts. In four seasons in the Diamondbacks system, he went 16-13 with a 4.35 ERA (223.1 IP, 108 ER), 81 walks and 186 strikeouts in 48 starts. Duran was named Arizona's mid-season 19th best prospect by MLB.com last off-season and 10th best by Baseball America.

Maciel, 19, was signed by the Diamondbacks in 2016 out of Londrina, Brazil. In 68 games for Low-A Kane County, he hit .287 (80-for-279) with 10 doubles, one home run, 16 RBIs, 44 runs and 14 stolen bases. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound outfielder spent three seasons in Arizona's system, hitting .296 (214-for-724) with 29 doubles, four home runs, 55 RBIs, 45 stolen bases and a .361 on-base percentage. Maciel was named Arizona's 11th best prospect by MLB.com last offseason and was named as a Pioneer League Midseason All-Star in 2017.

Trinidad, 22, was selected by the Diamondbacks in the 19th round of the 2017 first-year player draft out of UNLV. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound outfielder has played two seasons in the Diamondbacks system, hitting .306 (154-for-504) with 23 doubles, 10 triples, 13 home runs, 81 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and a .396 on-base percentage. He was named Midwest League Player of the Week this month.
