What softer? Rasho ,Towns or baby shit
Re: What softer? Rasho ,Towns or baby shit
It was a shit game for KAT but I feel better now. He will be a key component of any success we have in this series.

Part of Towns problem is he tries to do too much. The Wolves won the biggest game of the season without him down the stretch. Maybe he will chill a little let the game come to him to some extent and have more faith in everyone else.
I'll also add that Towns has played a little different this year including taking 1 FG a game less this season, has a lower usage, taking fewer 3's, had a career high FT rate all while having one of his most efficient seasons. Oh and his team won games. I have faith in Finch figuring out how to get something worthwhile out of Towns in the playoffs and I think Towns game has grown (does some of the little things MUCH better) since he played in that Houston series.

Good post, Monster. You provide an important broader perspective to keep in mind when discussing KAT. I think we all appreciate KAT's talent and his amazingly consistent high-level of play game after game. As I mentioned in my Game Report, he's the main reason this team ended up with 46 wins and home-court for the play-in game. But he definitely needs to get smarter and mentally tougher. I predicted in my game report that KAT will redeem himself by playing really well in the series against the Grizzlies. I hope I'm right because, if he doesn't, the Wolves will be swept.

Hate to say it but I predict that Towns will play terribly in the playoffs. He literally seemed scared out there at times. I dont think Kat has it in him. I really hope that I am wrong, but if I was betting money on it, I wouldn't be putting it on Kat. His intelligence leaves so much to be desired.

He had time with the press yesterday after practice and my takeaway after listening to him is.....mixed. He said some encouraging things like, "this isn't my team, it's our team" and "those guys have my back" acknowledging how DLO and Ant stepped up.
On the other hand he kept referring to what happened Tuesday as things outside of his control and having to work through adversity, telling me that he still feels like the victim here (of bad reffing). He did acknowledge that the over the back call was a stupid play on his part, even if the contact was minimal (which is wasn't).
So I don't know....in my opinion he still doesn't have a firm grip on reality when it comes to his own culpability in how the refs call his game. Until that's fixed, he will always be among the most foul-prone players in the NBA.

For some context here are some guys this season that foul about as much as Towns or more per 36.
Zubac
Jonas V
Dwight Powell
Poeltl
Drummond
Patrick Beverly :)
Giannis averages less than half a foul less than Towns.

Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels also foul more than Towns per 36.
In fact, McDaniels and Towns were #1 and #2 in fouls through a big chunk of the season.
Re: What softer? Rasho ,Towns or baby shit
A lot of those guys have completely different roles than KAT. He fouls a bunch AND is still fairly "meh" on defense. PBev is constantly pushing the limits of what he can get away with in service to the greater good of plus-defense. Meanwhile, KAT makes an idiotic foul climbing over someone's back to try to get an offensive rebound he has a 15% chance of success on. Quality of fouls matters too. Role matters.

Just saw this pop up in my feed - sort of outlines what's being discussed here:

He's gotta do better.

Thanks for posting, Danger.
KAT's quotes in this article confirm Q's take-aways from watching KAT at the presser. It seems like KAT can't take a truly honest look at himself in the mirror. Instead, he continues to consider himself a victim and attributes everything bad about his game to his effort to be good if not to his victimization by the officials. Most of KAT's fouls the other night weren't close calls. They were fouls and they were dumb ones. KAT won't take the next step unless he stops believing his own narrative. Unfortunately, he can't seem to do that even as he concedes some small points. He should have emerged from Tuesday night's game with a full understanding that he needs to stop committing dumb fouls and stop complaining or even thinking about the officials. KAT said he needs to be smarter, but he implied that he just needs to stop giving officials things they an use to victimize him. My take away is that I don't think KAT really believes in his heart that anything about his pathetic performance on Tuesday was his fault - except perhaps that he cares too much. When you think your only fault is that you're too wonderful, you won't change. That's why I suggested an intervention. :)
