They're a really good team when Morant plays. They are nearly unbeatable when he doesn't!
Miami lost again since the Butler meltdown... lost the #1 seed... and suddenly just .5 games from losing homecourt advantage for the 1st round.
But just so we're all clear, it's NOT Jimmy's fault. It's never his fault. He just wants to win more than everybody else and works harder than everybody else. Always.

People on social media are calling him Thybulle with rim pressure lol. It will definitely be fun to watch people turn on him over the next few years, I think it's always been accepted that his game will age horribly. But when you look at what he's going to be paid over the next three years I think we found our new Russell Westbrook!

Seems to me like Jimmy Butler's game is centered around his size, physicality, savviness, and effort. He's not really relying on athletic ability and explosiveness like Russell Westbrook and others. He's not a guy that needs quickness/burst to make up for smaller size. It's his durability that might catch up to him, but not his game.

Comparing Thybulle and Butler offensively is simply a joke and I know it's likely hyperbole but still. Butler has more assists this season than Thybulle has in his whole career and there was opportunities this season with the Sixers and he didn't really increase that output his assist rate actually went down. Meanwhile Thybulle basically rarely creates his own shots. He takes over 70% of all his shots assisted. Butler is taking less than 40% of his shots assisted.
Cam makes some good points about how Butler's actual game will age. I have tended to think his impact as a player would possibly not age well but it was like Cam said if it is it will his durability. I'll also mention by the time Butler is making over 40 million salaries will have risen and it will probably be more like guys that's are now making mid to high 30's. Yeah it will still be a lot and he might not be worth it but we will see.
I also think Butler even though he likes to have the ball a lot may have more ability to impact the game (and adjust his game) especially defensively than a PG that doesn't shoot well and is just ok on defense even when he was younger like Westbrook.
The Bridges-Booker-Ayton trio reminds me a bit of the Middleton-Giannis duo, where they grew together from the ashes of a crappy season (19 wins in '18-19) into an absolutely dominant franchise. Obviously adding Chris Paul helped a LOT, but they were growing together and gaining momentum even before he joined them. The difference between these three and the Bucks duo is just how linear their progression has been. I mean, they have taken a massive step each season since their nadir. The Bucks had a few more fits and starts along their journey.

Dammit! I really wanted them to be one of the potential foils to Philly.
That's too bad. They do have Daniel Theis who is a pretty solid player. They need some other guys to step up though and there isn't a ton of size left other than Luke Kornet.

We'll see more of Theis and Grant Williams. Neither is a "bad" player. Both bring something to the table. Grant W. is undersized but actually pretty decent, despite getting bullied by Towns early yesterday. But Robert Williams can be a game-changer as we saw yesterday.
