WOW. That was completely unexpected.

I think the Kings would have been better off trading De'Aaron Fox over Tyrese Haliburton, but they're getting a legitimate All-Star here. I'm shocked.

Also, I'm surprised that there isn't any draft pick compensation involved here, at least from the early reports. Wow.

Great timing for our Wolves.

That's if you believe McDaniels celling is as high as Haliburton

Could've found another okay wing somewhere out there and give Nowell Beasley main role.

Unfortunately, those aren't comparable packages. Tyrese Haliburton is a borderline All-Star caliber guard right now with potential to get better. Jaden McDaniels is obviously still a project with a high ceiling. For reference, Haliburton is a LOT closer to LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards in terms of value.

Minnesota, if interested, would have been looking at dealing Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels, and two first-round picks, most likely. It's for the best that they didn't pursue that.

I look at Haliburton how I look at LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards to some degree. A franchise cornerstone. You build around him. And the Kings moved him.

Mmmm, not quite sure he's a franchise cornerstone. Don't get me wrong - I love efficient, do-shit players like Haliburton, but not sure he's a build-around guy. He doesn't seem to carry enough usage as a scorer, but that doesn't mean he couldn't eventually turn into one.

He certainly seems like one of the better players on their team and someone that can fit with anyone else brought in. It is kind of surprising.

Haliburton's developed into that guy this season. Last I looked, he was basically averaging 16/8 on absurd efficiency since the beginning of December, and he plays good defense. He's a guy you build around.

Interesting, so 3 out of our next 4 games are against teams that made a major trade. With big name players at least missing the next game and needing to get acclimated, anything less than 3-1 is unacceptable.

Not sure what you're talking about, Q. Sure, they're missing Haliburton and maybe Fox and Bagley, but we all know Maurice Harkless is the straw that stirs their drink. It's another example of the bad luck that we have had this season that we have to face a healthy Harkless tonight. I'm worried about this one.

Edit: Sounds like Fox will play. Can't we catch a break once in a while? Sheesh...

Thibs Knicks give up 83 points

In the first half. Should have taken the Knicks under guys. I can lead you to water, but I can't make you drink.

And now they acquired players that don't fit and will have to pay or let walk. Haliburton may not be the stud #1, but he is a perfect 2,3,or 4.

I wwas reading a bit about the Knicks today and remembered your prediction. The report that Thibs didn't really want Cam Reddish (I don't exactly blame him) and he isn't playing is not exactly a great look but Thibs don't care. I also wonder if some guys that left in FA that aren't exactly big names were more valuable than maybe it seemed.
