I'm not comparing Lillard to D'Angelo Russell, but it is conceivable that these perimeter-oriented, high usage guards just have bad games from time to time. Minnesota needs Russell to be much better moving forward as does Portland with Lillard. These guys are too talented, albeit on completely different tiers in the league, to have many more of these duds in the future.
Meh.
Not really sure what the intent here is comparing 6-time All NBA player, Dame Lillard, with one-time all star, D. Russell.
We all know even the best players have bad games or stretches. So there's no news here other than to soften the negativity toward Russell by scouring the league looking for another guard struggling. Everybody knows Lillard is a top 10 or 15 players in the league and will be fine, ultimately.
But there are still legitimate concerns whether Russell is capable of producing close to what's often expected of an all star or max player. Unlike Lillard, his track record is much more spotty, so concerns may be more legitimate.
Obviously, we'll know more in a couple of weeks. Or, a couple of months.
Be honest. Do you read the entire post before responding? We're not comparing D'Angelo Russell and Damian Lillard as players. I certainly didn't when I wrote that. I also didn't "scour the league" looking for anything. I looked at the games from last night, as I usually do the following morning, and noticed an atypical box score for one of my favorite players in the league in Lillard. I drew a parallel from that realization, however. D-Lo isn't the only high usage guard getting off to a slow and bizarre (for them) start to the season. They'll both likely turn it around and resort back to their expected levels of production. The shots will go in. That's it.
Meh. Apologies if I question your motives with this one.
But you definitely have ownership of a dog in this fight.

And we need that dog to hunt, and right now, he don't...
Too early in the season to be throwing DLO under the bus. Going back to last season, Kek was tracking our W/L record with DLO and KAT playing together. I believe it was positive last season and so far 2-1 this season.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if things get ugly, per Bloop's worst-case scenario thread. After all, we're talking about the losing-est pro sports franchise in history. But let's give it a few more games before the torches and pitchforks come out!

My pitchfork is aimed at DLo's first three games and his 5-year history, and if we're going to be objective here, that's warranted and fair. Still, I'm rubey enough to think I'm seeing improved D from him that could translate into more wins for this club. And DLo isn't responsible for this team's horrendous rebounding in the first three games...4 per game from a PG is damn good. But overall we're not getting anywhere near $30 million of value from him, and this team is doomed if he doesn't start playing better. I still think he has it in him, he just needs to show it.

Well, no one here will argue that he isn't overpaid. Remember, we took him on in order to unload Wiggins, who is also overpaid. The original sin was signing Wiggins to a max deal.
I generally have a dim view of DLO as well, but I do know that when paired with KAT, we have a winning record. I want to see how that plays out and whether he can elevate others' games as well.

Wolves are now 15-12 when Kat play together what is a 55.5% winning % what is 8th seed comfortably last year.

Thanks Kek. That's ultimately what matters. And we know what their record looks like when it's just one or the other....not good. Hopefully they stay healthy and this trend continues.

On the other hand, the two best games the Wolves have played since DLO arrived here in my view were the games against the Clippers and Heat towards the end of the 2019-20 season. In the game against the Clippers, DLO was on the bench with an injury while KAT was in the game. In the game against the Heat, KAT was out injuries and DLO played. KAT played well against the Clippers and DLO played well against the Heat. The common denominator in both games was J-Mac. He played substantial minutes in both games and was instrumental in both wins. :)
Wow, Nikola Jokic left tonight's game with a right knee contusion. I wonder if it's serious enough to force him to sit out of Saturday's game against Minnesota. That would be another significant break for the Wolves.

Oh, and I hope Jokic is okay, obviously.
To go along with that holiday and lopez already ruled out tomorrow already for the Bucks. Giannis has been playing C for them
