Regarding your point about the starting lineup, I suspect Gupta & Co. are going to be paying REALLY close attention to these next couple of weeks. We get a chance to compare ourselves to the best of the best within a very short time period and at a time when it appears our team is (mostly) healthy and clicking. That will tell us a lot about this squad's limitations and ceiling and what our sense of urgency should be re: the trade deadline.

This was an expected outcome. Interesting fit for the Knicks, though. I suppose he'll fill the hole they had after Reggie Bullock signed with the Mavericks.

I didn't have much interest in Cam Reddish. He's a very inconsistent shooter who doesn't bring much else besides above average physical size. The lightbulb just hasn't gone off for that kid. Maybe Tom Thibodeau will help him realize his potential.

He's played only 60 games the past two seasons. But he is shooting 37.9% on three pointers so far this season... after going 9 - 14 on 3fg in 4 games in the ECF last year. Young guys carving out an effective role in a deep playoff series can be telling... sometimes.

And there's been some improvement. He was embarrassingly bad starting his career... shooting 32% over his first 30 or so games. He improved every month that season. Last year was a wash -- until that brief playoff run.

How much better can he get? Dunno. I'm definitely not a Cam Reddish expert. Nor even a fan... I just remember how disappointing and "meh" he was in college. Now, he gets to reunite with Barrett.

I guess there's one thing you can say about Reddish...he's consistent. He was a sub-40% shooter in college (and a subpar 3-point shooter) and he still is. And he averaged more turnovers than assists at Duke, and he still does in the pros. I've always thought he had some potential on defense, but his defensive metrics have never been very good. I didn't think he deserved to be the 10th pick in the draft. The only 2019 lottery pick who has performed worse than him is...yep, Jarrett Culver.

It sounds like Reddish has struggled this year including his supposed competent or better D that surprisingly showed up last year isn't the case. It seems like a decent gamble for the Knicks and the Hawks get a 1st round pick back. At one point I thought they would be lucky to get a 2nd round pick back for him because he I believe he was similarly statically as bad as Culver his rookie year but a worse defender.

Meanwhile Kevin Knox is just 21 days older than Reddish.

Atlanta also saves some money in the deal.

There is a video back when Ant was in HS and he was with other future pros like Maxey and he was asked who is the toughest player he has ever guarded and he said Reddish and everyone in the room agreed. For some reason that still sticks with me. Haha

Yeah, I remember that too. And that's why Reddish was such an enormous disappointment to me at Duke (and in the pros). In some ways he is a (very) poor man's Andrew Wiggins...another guy who everyone said was the toughest guy to guard in his class from the time he was 14 on. Obviously he's been better than Reddish both in college and in the pros, but he was also drafted first rather than 10th. Reddish will always be a mystery to me.
