Big questions the Wolves have this offseason is what to do with Dlo, Beasley and the wolves pick.

I can legit see an argument for all of these players and what they can do. Going forward.

Dlo is so interesting to me because he has been objectively pretty good this year. Was the key in the play in game. I just go back the random game he missed about a month and a half ago. He just hasn't been the same player since. He also went back to the locker room during game 5. I'm guessing he is banged up a little bit. Then Beasley has been streaky this year. He is playing hurt in this series apparently getting hurt in game 4 warm-ups. He is a nice salary filler.

Pick 19 is a solid asset also.

I just don't know what the wolves will do this offseason. Do think they are a solid team though. Names that will be mentioned are Gobert, Collins, Randle.

The wolves will go as far as Ant improves as a playmaker

In my eyes, DLO had average year. He's sitting right at his career averages across the board with most stats other than Assists which are up.[table]

I personally hope they do not resign him. His All Star year was four years ago. That was also the last time his contract was up. Buyer beware.

I've said this before, but if you look at the Milwaukee Bucks journey from bad to winning a title, there are only two guys left that were part of the start of their ascent from the bottom: Giannis and Middleton. Hell, they even cycled through three coaches (Larry Drew, Jason Kidd, and now Mike Budenholzer). They won 60 games in '18-19 with Drew Bledsoe as their starting PG. Yet they still moved on from him to get better eventually.

Man this stuff happens all the times with Drew Bledsoe. Someone else always winning a championship after he gets replaced. :)

Good post. Here are 2 reality checks none of them are gonna be too surprising.

1. Russell is a good player but overpaid. He is simply going to be taking a pay cut from his last contract. He isn't a possible Star anymore he is a starting level player.

2. Beasley is actually overpaid too. I still don't hate the contract because ai think he is easily moveable espcially with that non guaranteed season. It's not completely unfathomable to imagine the Wolves declining that last year and signing someone else or maybe signing him to a longer deal for less money...if he is on the roster at that point. Still Beasley is a good bench player. He is probably worth at least half of what he is getting paid. It's also possible you could get a guy that's just as effective for the vet min salary.

Meanwhile Vanderbilt is worth more than what he is getting paid even as a guy that doesn't play big minutes and has flaws. McDaniels is worth more than he is getting paid. Reid is probably worth a little more than his current contract. Edwards is a value contract. You add all that up and it helps offset the let's say 15 million that Beasley and Russell are being overpaid. Of course you also have Layman okogie and Prince who are overpaid this season but are free agents. If the Wolves can be smart going forward and not overpay much going forward that will be big. It's unlikely they get every contract right but one thing that can help is keep some of the contracts shorter. That's why I liked adding just one more year for Beverly.

So wait a minute...NBA contracts are suddenly in line with player value?

At least 50% of the players paid more than DLO add less value to their org. About 20% of them don't play or barely play.

If DLO had made the shot he rushed at the end of the game we wouldn't be having this conversation.

There's a shit ton of bloated contracts in the NBA and thankfully ours are only slightly bloated.
