They thought they were going to get Kyrie for Westbrook or the sign him for taxpayer MLE, but now Kyrie is returning to Brooklyn. They thought they'd sign John Wall, but now he's apparently signing with the Clippers. They have no cap space and almost no future 1st-round picks. They have an aging but still very good LeBron and a repeatedly injured Anthony Davis who thought he was too good for the Pelicans. The Lakers once again thought they use their deep pockets and Hollywood appear to buy a string of championships. Alas, it hasn't worked out the way they planned.

I should probably feel guilty about taking such pleasure in the suffering of the Laker franchise - but I don't feel even a twinge of guilt. :)

You have no reason to feel bad. Besides ultimately the Lakers will be just fine. :)

Yeah, I am not a Laker hater, after all, they are the only NBA franchise to win titles in Minnesota and their team name is Minnesota born. That said, the Lakers will struggle again to be relevant and maybe a full rebuild will hit them in a year. I'd welcome LeBron in 2023 to the Wolves!

My bad. I meant that they will be just fine after a few really crappy couple of years. Is that better? :)

Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac has agreed on a three-year, $33 million extension, his agents Jeff Schwartz and Mike
Lindeman tell ESPN. The Clippers declined his $7.5-million team option for 2022-2023, clearing the way for Zubac's new deal.

Good deal for both sides, I think. Zubac is a starting-caliber big and is a real presence defensively.

Another good player the Lakers picked outside of the lottery.

I agree this is a good deal for both sides. I think this gives us a bit of a window into what the market for some guys are.

Yes, a good deal for both sides. At an average of $11 million per year, Zubac's contract confirm that it won't cost more than the full MLE of $10.3M to sign Hartenstein or Jalen Smith.

Denver is nearing trading Monte Morris and Will Barton to Washington in deal for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

I like that deal a lot more for Washington than I do Denver.
