Q - The Basketball Hall of Fame already has a spot reserved for Jarred Vanderbilt. :)
Thanks for posting those articles, Monster! Very interesting. Like Q, I know hardly anything about McDaniels. Obviously, there must be a reason why someone so talented slipped all the way down to 28th, especially when you consider that his numbers weren't that bad for a Freshman. He appears to be a high-risk/high reward prospect. That seems to be a common thread through all three of the Wolves' picks this year.

Yes basically everyone I've heard/read says it's a boom or bust pick. I think it was Bobby Marks that said on Wolfson's podcast that the numbers on how many hits Teams have at that spot of the draft it makes sense to take a real swing at a guy like McDaniels. To me I'm looking at him a different way after watching him play more and learning about his catch and shoot numbers. What if he is more of a BIG 3 and D wing? There seems to be a path with him being a guy with a better floor than most people have suggested. Maybe he could become a Ariza type that would be a great pick.
This wouldn't be the first time a talented guy dropped to a spot that was lower than expected in some sense. Some fans have said he is the Micheal Porter Jr type pick. I get where the idea is coming from but he is probably closer to Kevin Porter Jr. which I thought at the end of the first round or in the 2nd round where the Cavs got him I'd roll the dice. He just got arrested on a weapons charge so that's not a good sign.

Interesting comparisons. I understood why Michael Porter Jr. dropped. It was his injury issues. I also vaguely understood why Kevin Porter Jr. dropped. It was apparently behavioral issues, which have recently manifested themselves in his recent weapons charge. Why McDaniels dropped is more of a mystery. He sure seems to have a great dad. There seems to be something more there that we don't know. But I'm hoping for the best.
I think you're on to something pegging McDaniels as more of a big 3 & D wing.
