My new favorite part of the Jimmy Butler trade

Post by BloopOracle »

Is that the hype levels raised so drastically that now Towns and Wiggins will get ripped by the media and I think it's going to happen very soon if this continues. Like other posters have said they have had smoke blown up their ass about how how great they are and scoring all the points....well the media expects wins now. If they don't come soon I'm looking forward to Skip Bayless tweets mocking Wiggins for his zero career charges taken, ESPN and TNT roundtables talking about how KAT is the best offensive big man and the game, and the worst defensive big man in the game. Former players who played under or know Thibs wondering out loud to the nearest camera about the fact that if Thibs can't reach them who can? I want to see them both miss the All star game and All NBA selections again and them turning on the tv to see the talking heads mention how of course they wouldn't vote for them as they have empty stats and can't win because they only play one side of the ball.

I love the Wolves and KAT and Wiggins but I hope they get eviscerated by the media sooner rather than later.

After those two embarrassing performances against Indiana and Detroit maybe they will figure out they can't just try and outscore everyone.

I wasn't in favor of the Butler for LaVine trade in that it should have been Wiggins included instead. LaVine is clutch, looks like the harder worker and mentally tougher. Look at Wiggins FT's. What superstar wing has ever struggled so horribly shooting FT's? It's all mental. So I hope I'm wrong but I would have either kept the team as is, or included Wiggins and kept LaVine.

I also really liked Markkanen, he would have fit perfect next to KAT as a stretch 4. Not sure about Patton.

LaVine was a train wreck defensively (yes, even worse than Wiggins) and was coming off a knee injury, so the fact we were able to let go of the inferior asset makes the trade a pretty damn good one on paper.

But....we really won't know for another year or two, as by then the journey of maturing as players will be nearing its end and we can truly tell who ended up being the better player. There were times last year when LaVine was healthy that he really did look like the better player. Then other times it was Wiggins. Then the injury.....

Also, Markkannen next to KAT defensively would be an absolute disaster.

That's what they say but who knows really. KAT was suppose to be a great defender and he's not exactly doing well either. Though KAT is probably better suited guarding 4's, most of the time.

With these young guys I don't think you can easily say one way or another for sure, otherwise guys like Giannis don't drop to the middle of the first.

I don't question that it is making us better now (Butler for LaVine) my question is 2-3 years from now and if Butler really wants to stay. LaVine has higher potential then Butler and I think we needed to hit on his potential to become a perennial contending team, along with KAT. Wiggins seems to have dropped back in a few ways himself. Heck, his Rookie year he was defending at the same level and scoring 30 points here and there. We're not seeing progression. Also his FT's are dropping too. No bueno.
