Question of the Day - Who Do You Pick to Start a NBA Franchise?

Post by Lipoli390 »

Question of the day is this. At the beginning of the season, NBA GMs were polled with on the following question: If you can pick one player to build around starting an NBA franchise, who would it be? You might recall that a majority picked KAT.

So I thought we should poll our group with the same question but from a limited set of options. So here goes. Who among the following would you pick as your top choice to build an NBA franchise around?

Heh, John Collins....good one.

Gotta go with Giannis. Sorry KAT. We're talking about a 7-footer with play making skills.

Hmm...so tempted to go with Embiid after his game in LA last night...but then there's that fragility factor. Also considered Kawhi. Eventually went with the Freak...he's a special player and still only 22!

I remember the days arguing that Giannis > Wiggins.

Seems so quaint... so long ago... so damn silly.

There are so many from the past that are funny when looking back. Giannis vs wiggins. Rubio vs Westbrook. Rubio vs Irving. Wiggins vs crowder.

I picked kawhi, in my opinion 2nd best player in the NBA.

He turns 23 in a few days but still plenty young given where his game is.

Honestly I don't think I can give a real answer to this question. I want 30 more games to evaluate some of these guys. If Embiid is healthy I'd take him but that's a pretty big question mark. Maybe last night is a turning point for Towns defense. That's the most significant thing holding him back from being a transcendent player.

Also Porzingis should be an option.

I forgot about Porzingis. My top candidates from my list with Porzingis added are Giannis, KAT, Simmons, Embiid and Porzingis.

May I ask why Kawhi would not be on your top candidates, just curious. Is it the injury. Kawhi is a top 3 defender in the NBA if not the best. And he is an elite offensive player. He has also proven he can lead a team to wins in the playoffs, none of the guys you mentioned have done that. Is it the injury?

I am generally curious why I am the only Kahwi vote

After looking at the teams here are some other names that are worthy of the list:

Kyrie
Jokic
Anthony Davis
