- We simply don't run enough. You can't bang away in the half court 95% of the time when you have the athletes we have
- Taking a brief hiatus from commenting on Wiggins: Did you notice when Butler couldn't stop Waiters at the end of the game, Thibs switched Wig on to him for the OT and that was the end of that.
- Good teams win these kind of games, especially on the road, We still need to learn to lock up our home court, but I think we will get there. Another couple weeks and we should have a better idea of what we have
I had the same thought, Cool, that we're not running enough. I also can't stand the lack of movement, flow and screens in our half-court offense. In my view that's on Thibs.
Wig did a really nice job defensively in the OT. He's learning how to contribute when he's not scoring well. I love the emotion he showed after is monster 4th quarter dunk. We would have won in regulation if the obvious foul had been called when he drove and missed that layup near the end of regulation.
It's a work in progress, but winning these close road games is a good sign. Wednesday night's game in New Orleans will be tough. Winning that one would be huge. But no matter what happens Wednesday night, this team needs to win both home games next weekend.
All things considered we've got a top 10 offense. Scary to think just how good our offense can get when they really start rolling.
We expend too much energy playing half court offense and it affects us on defense. It should be the other way around. You have to get some easy baskets. I'd be curious to know what our pace of play ranking is. It can't be good.

Wiggins D on Waiters was awesome. Butler was getting beat at times tonight but he made some off the ball plays defensively. I wonder if he might be a little tired/weak from being sick.
Heck of a win Miami is legit. Spolstra and that system is fantastic. They play their butts off and they have some pretty good players.
I agree with Q I thought Towns was better tonight. I thought he was actually really good early again even though the Heat got out to that early lead it was more about the Wolves missing easy shots and Miami outworking the Wolves. Towns made some big plays defensively. He has a ways to go but he has been better.
Look up the stats for Teague in OT. Heck of a heck for him when it wasn't going well a lot of the first half. He and Wiggins missed a number of shots you expect them to make or hit at least half of them.
Belly was a mixed bag but he canned another 3 and had that sweet dunk. Bazz's D was plenty solid. Tyus was good enough.
Wiggins had plenty of effort plays in this one and the did it against one of the big time effort teams. That's kind of a big deal.
This is the Wolves first win not winning the rebounding battle. On the other hand they won in categories of 3 points, turnovers, and FTs which was pretty big.
Waiters was one of the Heat players that played some good basketball. I had heard there was some concern about him having an injury that may slow him down this year but he looked plenty healthy which is good to see.
Overall good win I'll really pleased with where the team is at because I figured it may have a slow start. Hopefully some of these close wins will help develop some confidence and chemistry.
Looks like Wiggins sped up his FT shot just a bit. You don't want to go too slow where you have time to think about it. Take a dribble or two, look and let it fly. Keep it simple and repetitive. See it, make it.

Saw Tyus made a couple of shots. Cool.
Also saw he was -14 in only 15 minutes on the court.
-9 in 10 minutes last game.
-8 in previous game.
-1 before that.
-12 in 8 minutes before that.
This isn't all on Tyus Jones. But it shows that his style of play can only go as far as the players around him. There's no random heat check. He's a caretaker and that might limit the second unit at times.

Tyus just needs to play more aggressive. He needs to be more than a caretaker to be effective. If he's not going to score his PnR's aren't going to be as effective. The second unit should be built around Tyus/Crawford PnR's with guys like Bazz cutting to the rim and the bigs scoring on their rolling opportunities. That unit just won't work if Crawford is the only ball handler willing to shoot the ball.

I know the plus minus don't favor him and he has been just ok at best plenty of this season but I'll say that 2nd quarter he was part of a group that brought some energy and there were a couple plays Tyus nearly got a steal or knocked the ball loose for a possession and Miami corralled it. He hit a transition 3 that was a nice boost. Again I'm not suggesting he was good but he was good enough. Crawford has been so good with the ball it's kinda limited Tyus in a way from being able to do more than he is doing now. He needs to take and make more shots espcially 3's. That will help his teammates out giving them some spacing.
