2020 First Overall Pick Anthony Edwards First 32 Games Stats:
14.1 PPG
3.7 RPG
2.5 APG
.371 FG%
.316 3FG%
Such a bust! https://t.co/EyRyRmNA2D

This is just mind blowing how far Ant has come from this in just 85 games. Honestly it is legit amazing. Ant most 3s by a player under 21 in NBA history. T2 in most 40 pt games under 21. He can't legally drink!

Start your morning with a game replay if you didn't watch it last night, but then follow it up with these two studs post-game. It's impossible not to like their chemistry and how they play off each other on and off the court. This was a very entertaining -- and telling -- presser to me. Give it a watch. There are some awesome quotes here and it's not too lengthy.

He was an inefficient, poor defending chucker at both Georgia and in his first 30+ games with the Wolves, confirming the fears many of us had about him. And then the turnaround began and he hasn't looked back ever since. Amazing. Might be one of the great pure athletes in all of sports if you combine strength, speed, agility, and the ability to pick up skills quickly. His next step is play making for others.

I actually believe he knows how to make plays for others, he has had great assist games this year. The true next step is doing it all at the same time. Without ANT willing this team to win last night, we would be discussing how the team can't get over 500.

You'd never know it by reading the game thread the next morning.

Did he get only 7 shots because he was sleepwalking through much of the game? Quite possibly.
Did he get only 7 shots because the Wolves still struggle to get their most consistent shooter the ball in good places? Definitely. Probably some combination of the two.

But 7 shots is ridiculous.

17 points in 7 shots is exceptional. Other than a couple of bad TOs, I thought the guy actually played pretty well. And even though Nurkic is a big tough dude who can get in his head... he seemed to stay composed, too.

The Edwards sudden turnaround after those first 30+ games is one of the most remarkable in NBA history.

He was arguably the worst starter in the NBA during the beginning of last season (statistically). He was brutal. Then... poof... things changed quickly. I've never seen anything that drastic before.

Fun player to watch. If he continues to shoot around 38% (or higher) on threes, we're all going to be very happy.

[Note: Finch probably deserves some credit here, too. Whether it was schemes, patience, plays, tough love, guidance or sweet-nothings into Ant's ear... the turnaround shortly after Finch arrived can't be coincidental.]

Karl-Anthony Towns was as frustrating last night as the game thread made him appear to be. He looked somewhat disengaged and unfocused in the first half. He was simply going through the motions. It looked like Towns was coasting through a 9-5 shift at some minimum wage job. That's how it looked from a fan's perspective.

First Half: 3 PTS (1-3 FG, 1-2 3P, 0-0 FTA), 6 REB, 1 AST (2 TO), 3 BLK in 16 MIN

Second Half: 14 PTS (3-4 FG, 2-2 3P, 6-6 FTA), 11 REB, 1 AST (1 TO), 1 BLK in 21 MIN

Credit to him for turning it on in the second half where he was fantastic, specifically in the third quarter where most of the damage was done. That was All-NBA level KAT. I don't know who that was in the first half, but it was detestable and rightfully criticized here. Minnesota definitely doesn't win last night without him, but they also should have never been down to begin with and he's largely to blame for that, in my opinion.

While I agree that it's some combination... apparently I'm the only one who doesn't blame him entirely for only three shot attempts... and only 7 for the game. Heck, the telecast (Peterson) caught his histrionics after he was missed for a dunk.

Fortunately, the ball found McDaniels who hit his only shot of the night.

And while he did look less than passionate on the court, I don't know if it translated to as poor of a defensive effort as one would assume if it was 100% accurate. I thought he did a halfway solid job vs. Nurkic, avoiding many of the silly offensive/defensive fouls that generally get him in trouble.

Tough stretch for the guy. Act emotional... take the blame. Act calm and aloof... take the blame. Kevin Love is smiling while reading our recent threads.

I hate the rip through move. I think it's a gimmick move that should be banned entirely from the NBA.

But I do appreciate how much it's helping the Wolves recently. Russell is getting really good at it, and is earning more respect from the officials with it. I also dig his subtlety when he goes to hoop. Case in point, the final drive when he just bumped Simons enough while driving to create space as he leaned away at the finish.
