Did Thibs really blow through all of his time outs so we couldn't take the ball out in the front court after the Rockets tied the game with 5 seconds left? Really? That's the kind of stupid mistake a rookie coach might make, but not a veteran.

$8 million just doesn't get you as much as it used to...

I've noticed the timeouts multiple times. It seems like teams ALWAYS have a timeout late.

The Wolves have ran out of them multiple times this season, including tonight.

- Thibs needs them to get this team of dumbies to do the right thing?
- Thibs is micromanaging to the point of no return?

Becoming the story of the season, no?

Not having a time out at the end of the game to let you advance the ball is beyond inexcusable. But as I read the GDT, it sounds like Thibs could have used another time out in the last minute to set up the defense better. Sure, a veteran team would be more likely to know that fouling is a better option than allowing an open three when you're up 3 or 6, but Thibs needs to know he is coaching 20-year-olds here, not veterans, and he needs to keep his time out powder dry for when he really needs them. Shockingly bad game management for any coach, much less a veteran one.

Thibs is clearly in over his head. If only we had Kevin Ollie...

The timeout thing seems to happen basically every game.

Ha, I get the sarcasm, Monster :) . I wouldn't say Thibs is over his head, and would acknowledge that he knows much more about the NBA game than Ollie. I think last night's time out blunders were somewhat out of character, because on balance I think he is a decent game manager. For me, Thibs' problems are more intangible than tangible...I just have never seen an old recycled guy like him as a good fit for a young talented roster like this. If Thibs could learn to dial it back and exude a more positive demeanor on the sideline, I think this team could really flourish...I just fear he's too bullheaded to change.

So glad I didn't get the NBA season pass this year AGAIN. Jeebus, this team is ridiculously embarrassing. Are we gonna get in the top 3 lottery again this year? SP, time to bring back your Glen at the Lottery picture.

But I do appreciate the passionate fans here and surprised you all still post so often with your arguments. Not sure why it's so hard to play defense/grasp defensive concepts on this team. Every time I open these threads and see the final score, we've given up 110+ every time.

It might have been touched on in the game thread, but what happened to Lavine late in this one? I was watching it, but it seemed like we rarely looked for him, and I barely noticed if he was open or not. We need him to demand the ball every now and than, maybe run some off ball screens for him to get open like Reggie Miller and Ray Allen used to get.

I think 2 things are happening when Thibs lets Wiggins run the show late stretches of the game. 1. Thibs knows he can't give the ball to Ricky because of his lack of scoring ability. 2. He's trying to develop Wiggins into a more complete player offensively who isn't just a spot up guy or a guy who only looks to score every time he touches the ball like Bazz. Putting him in charge of the offense now is going to pay dividends down the line when he develops the tools (handle, IQ, etc.) to do it very well. If you only let guys do things they are good at they aren't going to develop in other areas (think Cal forcing Towns in the post in college). It takes reps to learn how to do everything right. I just wish Thibs would let matchups play into this a little bit and let Zach do it when he has a better matchup against Harden than Wiggins against Ariza. They both need the reps, so let the matchups dictate who's turn it is IMO.

Great question, rap. Zach's disappearance was a direct result of Thibs decision to have Wiggins run the offense. Earlier in the game, Thibs had either Ricky or Zach running the show. From what I could see, Thibs was not running plays for Zach. He had Wiggins in 1 on 5 mode or forcing the ball into KAT in the post. It was absolutely bizarre, especially given how effective Zach had been all game at scoring efficiently, handling the ball and finding open teammates. Thibs seems obsessed with turning Wiggins into his Jimmy Butler I guess. I can't figure it out.
