Thanks for posting, Monster. This just reinforces my view that signing Martin makes sense. It will cost very little and he'll bring toughness, intensity and defensive chops this team desperately needs. He was a 44% field goal shooter and 36% 3-point shooter in college. He's hitting 47% of his field goal attempts and nearly 38% of his 3-point attempts in the G-League this season on significant volume. So while somewhat streaky, I think he'll end up a much better shooter overall than his NBA numbers to date. There has to be room on a 15-player roster for a guy like Martin signed to a minimal contract. That's especially true for a team that has been lacking defense and intensity. And that's before even considering his friendship with DLO.
So what might the Wolves roster look like with Martin on it? Here's one possibility:
1. DLO
2. Beasley
3. Covington (obtained in draft-day trade involving Culver)
4. Johnson
5. Towns
6. J-Mac
7. Okogie
8. Layman
9. Okongwu (Lottery pick at #5 or 6)
10. Vanderbilt
11. Nowell
12. Spellman
13. Martin
14. Brooklyn pick at 16 or 17
15. Who knows
Obviously, there's plenty of room for Martin on next season's roster. My guess is that Spellman won't be back. I'm not sure about H-Gomez, but I'm sure I wouldn't re-sign him if it were my decision.
