Pick one player in the league not named Lebron
Pick one player in the league not named Lebron
That you could plug into the Wolves lineup and say, " this team is a contender."

Without removing any of the other pieces? It's Giannis Antetokounmpo, easily, for me. You can obviously make a case for Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant, but I love how Greek Freak's strengths mesh with Karl-Anthony Towns' and D'Angelo Russell's.

I was thinking Giannis too. It almost makes me want to give KAT to the Bucks if they werent in Wisconsin.

I'd go with Kawhi. I originally thought Giannis too, but then thought about the shooting and the fact it would still be an issue. Kawhi gives us everything we need - elite defense, 3-point shooting, 4th quarter takeover capabilities, and quiet strength.
Kawhi would be a better version of Jimmy Butler and a lot less dick-ish.
KAT
McDaniels
Kawhi
Beasley
DLO

Adding any one of the following would definitely turn this team into a playoff team and possibly into a contender:
1. Giannis
2. Kawhi
3. Luka
4. Anthony Davis
5. Kevin Durant
6. Jayson Tatum
7. Joel Embiid
8. Jimmy Butler - we already know his impact from the last time he was paired with KAT
I'll stop there, but I'm sure there are others. Jokic, Ja Morant and Ben Simmons come to mind.

Anthony Davis
They are perfect in the frontcourt.
Add DLo and Beasley spacing to that?
Easy choice.

I think we could challenge with either Davis or Leonard, but I would also swap Rubio in for Beasley to get a facilitator/better defender in with the starters and an elite scorer off the bench. In each scenario I would go:
KAT/Reid
McDaniels/Vando
Kawhi/Ant
Russell/Beasley
Rubio/J-Mac
or,
KAT/Reid
Davis/McDaniels
Edwards/Culver
Russell/Beasley
Rubio/J-Mac
KAT/Reid
McDaniels/Vando
Kawhi/Ant
Russell/Beasley
Rubio/J-Mac
or,

Davis/McDaniels
Edwards/Culver
Russell/Beasley
Rubio/J-Mac

Re: Pick one player in the league not named Lebron
Before the season, I imagined Russell and Rubio being able to coexist in the starting lineup together. That's not the case anymore. It just doesn't work. Actually, it's a terrible combination. I don't even know why Saunders continues to try playing them together considering the results have been dreadful. The main issue reverts back to Rubio being absolutely useless when he's not handling the ball and allowing the defense to key in on other Wolves players. So, even in this super hypothetical scenario, I just don't see any way in which Rubio should be a starter.
