What does success for a new head coach look like?

Take it easy on yourself. First of all, I've never seen you accuse a billionaire stranger of cannibalism and/or sterilization. Big points there.

Second, you OWN the Twins board. When you said the Twins would be at $130mm, I googled "Minnesota Twins sale" for like a half hour. This was back when they were at $90mm and just declined ER (we can quibble over ER vs. MS, and I still think MS has one more MOMUMENTAL screwup in him, but you're entitled to your opinion). I thought they were going to change their names to the "Twin Saintly Red Wings" and just roll with what they had, finishing a distant second to CWS. And here we are 5 weeks out from opening day and they are SIXTEENTH in payroll at $121mm, much closer than I thought they would be. So good work.

PS: Am I allowed to point out that (I believe) all four MIN teams have higher payrolls than their counterparts in (allegedly) better sports markets DAL, DEN and PHX? Some of that is mismanagement, but not all of it.

I'll try it's hard for me because I have the simplest of takes when it comes to basketball. When I talk on this side I feel so inferior and like idiot. If you can't tell I'm very insecure person it's something I struggle with in life.

Most of the insecurity When it comes to talking basketball on here has to do with my own experience. I played 8 mins a game in high school lol and 2 years of coaching high school jv girls basketballS

Compared to baseball I have 4 years of college ball under my belt, 2 years of scouting for the Rangers and 5 years as a pitching coach in high school.

I'll get off the soap box. But I will say this hire does remind of the Rocco signing. Everyone wanted Mientkiewicz aka Vanterpool to be next manager. Yet they brought in outsider named Rocco Badelli who was very analytics based. Finch sounds like a carbon copy of Rocco to me and I hope the results show up for him as well. Minus the playoff loses of course :)

Is it personal connections or did you access a network of some sort at a conference? You don't have to reply in this thread necessarily, or even at all. My messages are always open, though, and I'd personally be very interested in knowing.

Honestly it was connection I made at Mickey Owen baseball school in Missouri. Unfortunately the shchool has shut down since then. Coach Doe coached me for two summer years there. After college I was looking into getting to scouting because it had been a dream of mine and he had connections with the Rangers. As he was 3 or 4 time state champ in Texas.

So the first year I was assistant to another scout to learn the ropes. The second year I was on my own. I was part of the group that covered the south east region of the country. Basically I would get list of players that our head of scouting likes and I was to give my opinion on the player and watch him play.

I don't how basketball is but it was not a life for me. I was getting married at the time and I was on the road over +270 days a year. Sleeping in shitty motels every night and I was getting paid peanuts.

It started to hurt my relationship with my wife so I made a choice moved back home. Now I own union print shop in the cities and been coaching 5 years as a pitching coach.

Most notable guys I had when I was scout.

I like the twins Cody Stashak and had 10th round grade on him.

My one claim to fame scouting is I knew Walker Buheler was legit. I had Walker Buehler as Number 2 on my big board. I watch him pitch about 10 times in Lexington Kentucky.

It is probably that I have given up hope on the franchise and stopped paying attention when Thibs was hired. I try to contribute though, by starting draft threads shortly after the draft is done because the end of the season to draft day is honestly the only time we can be optimistic. After the draft and until the season starts Wolves fans try to talk themselves into thinking we made the right moves then to find out we didn't and the cycle starts over.
