I really like their complimentary characteristics, and if Jaden does end up being as good of a defender as he has flashed I really like the trajectory of this team with him and Ant. Im ok with the trade for now. If 30+ games of DLo and KAT look horrible I reserve the right to change my mind.
What if we could somehow get our #1 pick back with Shabazz Muhammad instead of Wig? Then are you in?
Boy I will never live down wanting Shabazz to become a scorer on this team. I was in 100% when Flip thought Wig and Bazz were the future of the team. I was wrong.
Um, I'm guilty on this topic also. I just didn't see how a guy who was Pac 10 player of the year as a freshman could miss in the NBA. Swing and a miss by FNG on that one  .
I said no because the team (seems) to be making tippy toe steps in the right direction. Some of the younger players are showing signs of being a useful cog in the grand scheme of a team. Plus Dlo and KAT haven't been on the floor long enough to make it a fair case either for or against them working together on the floor. Until we see them with many games under their belt on the floor together in consecutive games it is not worth making a call yet. But as I said earlier there seem to be other younger players seemingly showing that they "might" be worth while, or leverage in a future trade. Though I'm for keeping them to show our fans that we can actually take a player in the draft and make him into a decent player.

Hey, Nollr37. You should post more often. This is a logical take.
Out of curiosity and as an attempt to provoke more participation, which of Minnesota's younger players are you feeling most confident about thus far?
I said yes, BUT I still would want Wiggins traded in that deal Lip always touts involving Batum (I think it's Lip's deal, but forgive me if that is someone else's idea). That would be my hindsight move.

Yes Q, that was mine. Wiggins for Batum and the Hornets' second round pick, which turned out to be #32. As I've posted several times, I would not have done the DLO deal, but still would have shopped Wiggins and I think the Batum deal I suggested was realistic. Short of going back in a time machine, I would gladly swap DLO for Wiggins right now if I could get our 1st round pick back in the deal. Of course, there is absolutely no chance the Warriors would do that deal even though I'm not proposing to get our 2nd round pick or it's equivalent back in the deal and I think that's telling.
However, since neither that hypothetical deal nor any other deal that would bring meaningful value in return for DLO is realistic, I'll join join those who want to see KAT and DLO play together for an extended stretch and hope they surprise me.

Lip and I both must have been on that one. I proposed it more than a year ago. But it's not a victory lap. I didn't even include the 32nd pick. And I proposed it when Batum was looking like his career was toast. It was just to get off a terrible contract faster... and save both the wolves and Wiggins from each other.

Hmm..."not worth making a call yet" sounds like you're actually choosing "undecided" rather than "no", nollr. I agree that there's a lot of unknown out there because of how few games our two max players have been able to play together...I share your curiosity in seeing if this Rosas lab experiment can actually work out. Hope can rush in to fill the vacuum lack of data creates. But then I look at the body of work DLO has put up over the course of his career and the talent that exists at the top of next year's NBA draft, and I ask myself this: "Is DLO enough of an upgrade over Andrew Wiggins to support giving up a top draft pick in a stacked draft?" I think most of us here, while still clinging to some hope that a KAT/DLO pairing is the right answer, would still answer with a resounding no. Cade Cunningham plus Andrew Wiggins has to have more value than D'Angelo Russell, doesn't it?

Cade Cunningham will not be available at 4 and 4 is worst case scenario

NBAdraft.net has Cade at 4, so that's why I used him as an example. But substitute any of the 5 or 6 guys at the top and ask the same question. Would you rather have Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga or DLO? Still seems like a pretty easy answer to me.
