Draft reaction (not factoring Wolves)

Post by bleedspeed »

Loved:
Spurs - Loved that Dejounte Murray pick. Might be the best PG in this draft in 3 years.
76ers- Loved their draft, but should have picked Dejounte Murray over Timothe Luwawu.
Griz - Baldwin and Davis - Good draft for where they picked.
Bulls- Valentine can be there PG and guard SFs. I liked the pick.
Thunder - Loved the trade for them.

Head scratchers:
Celtics - What a cluster. I think other GM's didn't want to be the poster child for helping them out
Nuggets - How many SG's can you draft
Magic - Looks like you short changed your rebuild. What does this mean for Gordon. Would anyone want to trade for him as our PF?

My sense is that the Celtics really like Brown. If LaVine and Dunn would have gotten Butler, I'm sure Avery, Dunn, and 16 could have gotten Butler. Brown has huge upside and they have a great coach.

Wow, can't believe Murray fell to #30 and of course the Spurs get the steal of the draft...again.

That's great point TRKO. It seems that deal would of gotten Butler. It's a head scratcher for sure. I would love to get A. Gordon as our PF, how can we make that happen!?

I think the steals of the draft were Luwawu and Korkmaz to Philly (and I was hoping they were drafting them for us), McCaw to Golden State for cash, and Deyonte Davis sliding to Memphis.

Memphis did fantastic getting Baldwin and Davis in the 2nd round. Phoenix did very well with Bender and Chriss. New Orleans did well getting Buddy.

Best 5

1. Philly did amazing getting Simmons, Luwawu and Korkmaz
2. LA: Ingram alone makes this a great class
3. Phx: Bender and Chriss is a very nice haul
4. NO: Great pickup in Buddy Love.
5. Memphis: I really like the upside potential in Baldwin and Davis, especially at the spots they were taken

Worst 5

1. Charlotte: traded pick for Belinelli (headscratcher)
2. Boston: I really expected more from Ainge. Brown does have upside potential but he was a slight reach at 3. Yabusele was another reach
3. Denver: Didn't make the most of their 3 first round picks. Henangomez and Beasley were reaches. Cornelie in the 2nd round I thought was their best value pick.
4. Milwauke took Maker at 10. I like Maker but he was expected to go late in the first round and he's a boom/bust type.
5. Sacramento-Pappagiannis was I think the worst reach in the first round, but getting Skal late in the first round-another boom/bust type offsets this a little.
