Minnesota Philly Trade Proposal

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

Dunn and Bazz for Noel, 24 and 26. At 24 and 26, we could get two of Luwawu, McCaw, Deyonta Davis, Kormaz and Skal, which is pretty much the order I'd take them.

Alternatively, I'd be fine with keeping Dunn and swapping Bazz for 24 or 26 and taking one of the above. It beats the Chicago deal.

Ricky, Bazz and Rudez for Noel, Grant and right to Kormaz. Ricky is loved, but I feel the new age is here and it's time for Dirty Dog Defense with a rim attacking Dunn and LaVine.

ESPN sources say Philadelphia is offering Nerlens Noel, No. 24 and No. 26 in tonight's draft and Robert Covington for Boston's No. 3 pick

Noel, Luwawu, Korkmaz and Covington should still be available for Dunn. I'd rather do this deal than Dunn and Lavine for Butler. But I'd be fine keeping our team intact.

I think it was worth revisiting this reported trade offer a bit a couple days later.

Philly couldn't get anyone to bite with this rumored package. I think it's clear why. Noel is a guy teams probably looked at as a nice player but why give up a top 5 pick when you have maybe a decent chance of just signing him in a year. Philly is stocked with bigs they are gonna have to move one of them later. Maybe you can get Noel for something more palatable later if you think you want to pay him as well. Sure there is a chance Philly keeps him and you never get a shot at him but that might also mean you can get another one of their guys for a good deal. Noel certainly doesn't project as a star player he likely would have to become a DPOY to get into that conversation. So it wasn't worth giving up the hope of a possible star player on a cheaper rookie contract for Noel (who in a year you would have to pay up for) and some late first rounders.

I like Noel I would love to have him here but I can absolutely see the logic on passing up that package the Sixers were offering and I did like those late first rounders as well but only one probably had value to a team that would have been so young. It's possible Noel ends up being a really nice player and the Sixers dodged a bullet to a certain extent. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Maybe Noel becomes a target of the Wolves down the road at some point.

+1

I am hoping this can get dropped now. Danny Ainge is a smart guy (smart enough to know he couldn't hit well enough to get a good contract from the Blue Jays and went running back to the NBA), and he ran from the trade some of you seem to be fetishizing.

I think they have to move Okafor at this point. He can't play next to Simmons. Noel can cover up for Simmons defensively. They should be trying to swap Okafor for Russell. That makes the most sense for both teams.

Are we certain Simmons is going to play the 4 in the NBA? I see him as a SF to start his career while playing small ball 4 at times, and then transitioning to PF as he ages. There's no reason they have to move anybody right now. They don't know what Saric, Embiid, or Simmons are going to actually bring to the NBA yet. In my opinion, letting those guys fight in practice/games for minutes and letting the cream rise to the top is Philly's best option.

He's a PF. He's got the size and body to play the 4 and he can't shoot at all so he has to play the 4.

I think both Saric and Simmons can probably play some SF but it seems they are somewhat overlapping players that can't play SF big minutes. Obviously Simmons is more talented but Saric is an outside shooter.
