After Ingram Simmons, I rank them this way
1. Bender/Hield (pretty much a tie for me)
2. Bender/Hield
3. Dunn
4. Luwawu
5. Chriss

I'm here right now:
1) Murray. The Wolves are still young enough for me to gamble on potential. He shot the ball amazingly as a freshman. The worst athlete of the three but definitely a basketball player.
2) Dunn. I'm still with Rubio, but regardless, we need help. The verdict is out on Jones. And I don't ever want to see Lavine play point guard again. Backup point guard has killed us over the last few years, adding another capable player at the position would be good.
3) Hield. I won't be disappointed if we take him. He looks like more of a specialist to me, a guy who will be best served as a Korver like spot up shooter, but who knows. He could easily be the best of the three.
So with one week away, what is your order?
Simply stated, the bold is what does it for me. The game is becoming more and more about skill and less about raw athleticism. I love our current athletes, now let's add a guy who can flat out play.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
Bender
Dunn
Hield
Murray
I think Bender could be a special defender in Thibs defensive system with his length and quickness for a big man. Dunn can do everything and mainly just needs to improve his decision making to become a very good player. I think Hield will be a solid 3 and D SG. He was a good defender at OU before he took over the scoring load so I think he's going to be a good defender with a smaller offensive role at the next level due to his lack of ball handling. Murray just isn't gonna be a good defender, but he can shoot the lights out and has some good touch around the rim. His low release point is a little worrisome if he can't create space well which takes some athleticism and a lot of savvy so that's a TBD. I think Bender and Murray are the biggest risks and Dunn and Hield are the safest picks.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
Ellenson, Murray, Hield
I know I am severely in the minority here, but I love Ellenson's game. Defensively challenged a bit....yes. But so are most other players not named Dunn. Ellenson is a supremely skilled big man with an emerging outside shot. While percentages weren't off the charts, he has a great looking shot. Also, very skilled with the ball in his hands.
I probably take Ellenson at 5, but he would certainly be a trade-down candidate for me. Seems a great fit as a stretch 4 next to KAT. #7/Barton for #5/Shabazz.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
1. Hield (no surprise to most here)
2. Dunn
3. Random freshman/high potential guy/eurotrash guy
I admit to not seeing any of Dunn and very little of the Murrays. So I'll defer to my friends on this board and accept Dunn if he's the choice, but I can't see how you let Hield go by here with his amazing year last year, leadership, hustle, fantastic long range shooting. I think he's gonna be a huge problem for backup guards trying to contain him.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
1. Hield: Best shooter with defensive potential. High character guy. Great work ethic. Floor of JJ Redick. Ceiling of Klay Thompson.
2. Dunn: Awesome defense. Makes PG a position of strength and adds a dynamic this offense hasn't seen in a long time. Ceiling is slightly less athletic John Wall.
3. Murray: Combo guard. Great shooter. Least athletic of the 3. Average to below average defender. Big upside. Feels like Eric Gordon/bigger CJ McCollum to me.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
Some really solid options are on here. I would like see us make a full effort for=
#1. Chriss
#2. Dunn
#3. Brown/Heild
#1. Chriss, the more I see is just a baby huey who will be not only taller in another year, but physically the most gifted next to Simmons. PF of the future with length, strength and athleticism. Range also.
#2. Dunn even at 22 has that "Westbrook prototype" and I feel an above the rim leader on the floor at PG is needed. Rubio struggles at finishing in the paint in my opinion. Dunn surrounded by NBA talent will allow him to blossom because at Providence he was the showcase and tried to hard at times.
#3. Brown and Heild both have that gym rat mentality and I love the confidence and swagger to be great mindset. Brown I feel could be like Harden without the antics someday. And Heild is just purely Special.
Beyond that...I would like to see a trade of Bazz for a late rounder and get McCaw...I would like to see a Will Barton type with more PG and defensive potential. Just my hopes. Or go after Allen Crabbe.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
Saying Buddy Hield's floor is J.J. Redick is a major disservice to the player Redick turned out to be. Getting to that level isn't easy. I would say Anthony Morrow or even Brandon Rush is a fine floor for Hield while being realistic.
Redick is perhaps a middle ground projection, but Hield is going to need to improve his ability to get open off screens to be able to get as much space as Redick does. He's so good in that regard.

Re: The draft is one week away, rank the 3 probable targets:
DX has moved Dunn up to 3, Chriss to 4 and Buddy to 5 over Murray and Bender.
I am buying into this. I think Thibs will want one of the older kids either Dunn or Buddy. I think he prefers Dunn but I am really buying the notion that Dunn goes 3 to Boston or someone else in trade.
Personally, today, I would go Murray over Buddy but I think the combination of age and defensive potential will tip the scale for Thibs and I am ok with that.
This changes for me daily but my personal preference is
1. Dunn
2. Murray
3. Hield
I think Thibs has Murray and Hield flipped though.
