I think there is only truth to these Rubio rumors if Thibs has line of sight to a Bledsoe trade or Mike Conley free agent deal, etc. That sort of thing.
God that would be sweet. Conley and Thibs seems like a match made in heaven.
Somebody floated this earlier...
Chicago:
Gibson
McDermott
#14
So Minnesota would lose Rubio, which sucks. But they'd gain...
Hield/Murray.
Gibson
McDermott
Sabonis
Conley (are the wolves willing to devote $20+M to him?)
Actually, I don't see Chicago giving up THAT much for Rubio.

Draft Dunn 3, Bender 5
Dunn/Tyus

Wiggins/Covington
Bender/Belly/Covington when teams go small
Towns/Dieng
Philadelphia is giving up the #3 AND Covington for Rubio?
Ummmm...
You forget Colangelo is the GM there now and not Hinkie. Ricky is a know commodity floor general who improves the play of his teammates which is exactly what they need at this stage in their development. Colangelo wants guys who can play right away which is why he likes Dunn and it's also why he may like Ricky a little more. Maybe they want Bazz also, but that wouldn't be a tough throw in.
I don't know what else to say about it other than... there is absolutely no chance... 0% chance... of that deal happening.
Ricky is under contract. I would much rather surround him with talent, which decreases his need to score. BUT, is that what Layden and Thibs are thinking? No idea.
Teague went for a mid 1st round pick, so it would be crazy that Rubio went for around the same. I saw something on the ESPN scroll last night which said according to their analytics, Dunn is the most highly rate PG the last 5 years coming into the draft. #beastmode
