So, if someone is not spectacular, they'd then be considered what...? I didn't short Dieng at all. "Very solid, but unspectacular." That's what I said. I find it comical that you're picking at that part of the post, honestly. It seemed like a fair description of Dieng.

Okay, so you don't prefer using DRtg when it pertains to the NBA, but when it's collegiate players, it's the best stat available. I don't fully understand that considering it's the same formula, but I'll try to remember that for next time.

Individual defensive stats:

- DRB%

Noel in 2014-15: 21.0
Dieng in 2014-15: 20.8

Noel in 2015-16: 22.2
Dieng in 2015-16: 22.1

- STL%

Noel in 2014-15: 2.9
Dieng in 2014-15: 1.6

Noel in 2015-16: 2.9
Dieng in 2015-16: 2.1

- BLK%

Noel in 2014-15: 5.0
Dieng in 2014-15: 4.5

Noel in 2015-16: 3.9
Dieng in 2015-16: 3.5

- DWS

Noel in 2014-15: 4.2
Dieng in 2014-15: 1.5

Noel in 2015-16: 2.8
Dieng in 2015-16: 2.5

So, Noel has the edge in every individual defensive stat too, though some of the margins are pretty close. That's also comparing a player that was a rookie and a second-year player in Noel to a second and third-year player in Dieng, which matters, IMO.

Noel's the better defender right now and his potential on that side of the ball is even higher given his overall physical ability and youth (age 22). Dieng's 26 and not nearly the athlete that Noel is. The upsides are different. That's OKAY. I'm not downing Dieng, but I am buying Noel defensively right this second and in the future.

Thankfully, your last sentence was that you wouldn't mind having both guys here because that's essentially the main idea behind the trade proposal. It wasn't supposed to become a Noel vs. Dieng thing because ideally, you could have both.

I thought I made it clear in my post, but I'll try again. I like to use DRPM, but its only available for NBA players. Since there is no DRPM stat kept for College Players, I look at D-Rating.

Well you posed the question as would you rather pay Noel or Dieng. It sounds like you viewed Noel as a replacement for Dieng. I really like Dieng and if I bring in Noel I want Dieng here too.

Jason had brought up that in trading for Noel, we'd have to pay him as a RFA after the season. Personally, I knew that in bringing it up and I'm okay with that, especially if Noel took his game to another level regardless of the reason (contract year, better coaching, whatever the case may be).

That $25-$30M per year I was ready to dish to Horford would instead be used on Noel and Dieng, assuming this hypothetical trade went down. We'd have the cap space to satisfy both of them in free agency, even if both were to get $15M annually.

I'd be replacing Dieng with Noel in the starting lineup, yeah, but Dieng would still get a heavy dose of minutes. What a three-headed monster situation that could be.

Cam, what's the minutes distribution gonna look like with Favors, Horford, Noel, Dieng and KAT all on the same roster. Shoot, I forgot Belly and KG. Thanks

LOL. Don't forget Butler too. I'm assuming Towns and Wiggins are coming off the bench next year. We're gonna be deep!

This tread brings back memories of George Costanza, who once concocted a Yankee-friendly trade for Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr. while lying in a ditch and surviving on grubs and puddle water!! Classic episode! Sorry Cam just having a little fun.

What the fuck dude, he is making a legit argument for a player that he thinks would benefit the team. Now my opinion is that I like noel but I am not sure how he would fit with the wolves. I am also scared about him becoming a RFA next year. We can say that we can match but I have a feeling that someone is going to give him big money for a 23 year old potential defensive anchor. I am just worried having 2 negative offensive players on the court at the same time would hurt also he is not a great FT shooter.

I think he would be the 3rd rated prospect in this draft (I can't put bender in there haven't seen him play). So the 5th pick for Noel is good value in terms of talent I am just scared that he is a RFA already and has some injury history. So for me I think I would pass not saying it is a bad idea though. I think the statement I agree with Cam with the most is people overvalue draft picks a ton

We need at min 4 quality big and it helps when they can play both positions like adding one of Noel, favors, Horford helps lot
