Lillard was better from anywhere on the floor. But the main difference: he can shoot, Dunn can't.

No, he cannot play point guard.

I think he could.

He doesn't even play PG for his own team. Let alone possibly be an NBA caliber PG. He's a great spot up and clutch shooter. That's his calling at the next level.

But the points stands. All those guys were super efficient scorers. Dunn is none of that.

The only thing holding Dunn's advanced efficiency numbers down is his FT shooting percentage. He's solid from the field and from three (improved his % and volume this year). Sub-70% from the line as a guard is unacceptable, but that might be the guy's only glaring flaw as of right now. Luckily, free throw shooting is improvable.

My issue with FT% is that it's often a bellwether for 3PT shooting. I know that sounds a little specious (for example, that obviously hasn't been the case with Ricky Rubio), but it's fairly well correlated overall. It's just rare to find a guy that struggles to knock down FTs at a high rate turn into a decent NBA 3-pt shooter.

That being said, he does an awful lot of other things very well.

Ben Simmons came off the bench today due to some academic dust-up. Givony ripped him to shreds on DX's twitter feed for horrible body language and lackluster play (by his standards). Not sure what's going on there, but seems like another little flag is raised on this kid. Just enormously talented, but not sure about the heart.....

Assuming we are out of the top 3, I'm still thinking along the lines of Dunn-Valentine-Hield.

Are you saying that because he lacks quickness and ball handling skills or because he shoots a lot of 3s?

Q, I don't know how much free time you have, but I'd like you to watch whatever you can on Sabonis and tell me what you think. I think he'd be a guy you'd be seriously interested in too. He's more of a traditional PF so don't expect to see many jumpers. That's not his game, though, he does make his FTs this year. Also, he's a really strong defender from what I've watched, both man and team. Guy's built like Thor too.

I think we're saying it because he's not a point guard nor does he play point guard. He's a shooting guard through and through.

If we don't have a shot at Ingram/Dunn and maybe Heild (the volume + efficiency is hard to ignore even though I;m not completely sold on him), I'm increasingly gravitating towards the idea of trading down. If we could pick up say Domantas Sabonis and Grayson Allen, I'd consider that a very solid draft.

Part of me likes Grayson Allen more than Kris Dunn... That ability to slash/shoot/facilitate/defend at a high level vs. elite competition... I think he could be a scoring PG in today's NBA, though other sites may strictly say he's a SG. He handles the rock for Duke a ton. I keep watching him and most impressive is his feel for the game.
