Phenom's_Revenge wrote:The Nerlens Noel for Jeff Teague rumors are gaining some steam. I gotta think Noel for Dunn would be a preferable choice as he is on a rookie deal. Teague could be a one year rental although they would probably just overwhelm him with a monster payday next year.

Also speculation that this could trigger a Horford departure. Man, he would be perfect here.

Last I heard the talks were Noel, Covington, and one of their later 1st round picks for Teague. Even Noel for Teague is a bad move. Teague is an outstanding player, but I doubt he'd resign there after next season. At this point I would only trade Noel for a top 15 draft pick, or for a promising player on a rookie deal with 2-3 years left. If not, you keep him until at least next years trade deadline. For the meantime, he provides insurance if Embiid isn't fully healthy. If Philly can't offload him at the deadline, then I would assume he doesn't have a ton of value and can sign/match for his second contract and look to trade him when he's on a new deal.

But this is Bryan Colangelo who probably still views draft picks like he did in the 90s. He has stated that he is full in on improving now, and they can afford to with the lakers/sacramento picks that should be in the lottery next year. If he does it for a rental, i'd be a worried 76er fan and a very furious Hinkie. I still feel terrible for Hinkie. The guy had a vision, and it was nearly coming together. Hinkie needed 2 more years with the assets he had to work with these next two seasons and the boom in salary cap. Either way Hinkie loses. Colangelo blows all the accumulated assets in 3 seasons and screws it all up, or he uses these assets he was gifted with and looks great by building a contender.

I'd do 5 and Bazz for Noel and Covington if they are that low on both of them. I'd take that deal and run. Heck I'd do Dieng and Bazz for Noel and Covington if they want proven players back. If we can get those two for backups and/or our pick sign me up in a heartbeat.

I think we overvalue Noel here. He is not worth a top 10 pick himself given his current contract status. Noel has shown to be an exciting, game changing defender. With athletic ability to defend on the perimeter people assume he's interchangeable at the 4 and 5. Yet the experiment this season at the 4 proved he is much better suited at Center. His offensive skills and his hands are abysmal. His rebounding is average. I like him as a player because he has potential to be in the top 5 or 10 in every defensive category year in and year out, but someone will way overpay for him next season. If he was an elite rebounder as well, I may be more inclined to go for him. They are trying to offload him. #5 and Bazz for both players, i'd think about. #5 + Dieng and Bazz would be way too much for me.

If given the option of signing Biyombo to $12 -$15mil this year for 3-4 years or trading for Noel, i'd prefer the former. Trading for Noel and trying to match his contract/resign Dieng next season when there are reports that we are approaching $40mil per year for the new max sounds like a nightmare. Going after Biyombo gives you the same type of player (with better rebounding), and allows us to keep our likely last top 5 pick for many years.

Agree he is actually 3 years younger too. This part of the reason i am open to trading shabazz and dieng beforw they are due contracts.

Just as sort of a random thought but I see Greg Monroe as the new Al Jefferson. Nice player with what may actually be (with the cap going up) sort of a good value contract wise. Both are good guys good players but how do they really fit in on a contender type team?

Just to clarify my scenario was 5 and Bazz or Dieng and Bazz for Noel and Covington. I can see how my last sentence was poorly worded though.

I wouldn't mind signing Malcolm Delaney to be a backup PG on this team.

Not exactly sure about the credibility of this ("league sources tell Sporting News that Thibs is targeting"...oh really?), but I thought I would leave it here anyway.

I guess if KG can't go and decides to opt out, I would be in favor of this if it were a 3-year deal or less. Noah has always been one of my favorite players, and if healthy, would provide some big man depth. But is he healthy? He only played 29 games last year, but since it was a dislocated shoulder that sidelined him, there shouldn't be recurring issues. He averaged almost 9 boards a game last year in only 22MPG, so that aspect of his game hasn't fallen off. And he's only 31 years old.

If KG shows the Wolves that he is healthy (Thibs said this morning he has not had any contact with KG other than texts and emails), I'm on the fence on Noah. Here are his and KG's comparatives last year:

Yeah, I don't feel I know anything more than already did before ready that blurb from Mitch. I mean, league sources could be nothing more than Zgoda telling Mitch that it makes sense for Thibs to reach out to Noah, and there ya go, a "nothing story" takes a life of it's own...

On another note, I think having Noah and KG both on the roster is just fine...

Twolves like Dragan Bender with No. 5 pick. Scouts Calvin Booth and Zarko Durisic seen him here in workouts.
