Lots of talks about wolves getting faried...

Cam and Cool -- Yes, ending up with Faried and Murray would be a dream draft as far as I'm concerned.

Getting a guy like Jaylen Brown at 7 would be nice too. I think under Thibs the guy would have a huge upside as an uber athletic two way player. I don't trading down two spots are going really hurt us when it comes to adding young talent.

Murray is not dropping past the Pelicans. It's a nice pipe dream, but it won't happen. You're looking at getting Faried and then probably drafting his eventual replacement in Bender, Criss or Skal because they're in the next tier of guys. Maybe we get Brown. It's hard for me to think that's the case though when Thibs has talked so much about the importance of shooting this summer.
Re: Lots of talks about wolves getting faried...
Lip you make a good point about the possibility of Pek giving them cap relief. On the other hand if that doesn't happen they would have to pay Pek and Bazz for a year.
Like Cam alluded to if they deal Bazz suddenly you have a real lack of wing players especially at SF. Basically you have Lavine Wiggins and that's pretty much it. You wouldn't HAVE to use a draft pick for that but it would open up opportunities to add a guy in FA no doubt.
I can't imagine the Nuggets would value Bazz that highly but who knows. Like I said in another thread they have Gary Harris and Barton along with Chanlder so it's not like they have nothing there. Bazz would add an interesting element though since they have a lot of guys that seem to have perimeter shooting as a strength aside from Mudiay.

I think I like this rumored deal...jeez, it would be nice just not having Faried chasing down every loose ball against us.
Both draftexpress and nbadfrat.net have Bender dropping to 7 now, so at least according to them, we would mostly likely end up with Bender if we traded with Denver. Although that leaves us thin at SF, since I liked Bender at 3, I really like him at 7. Trading Bazz and not drafting a wing pretty much assures Thibs would be targeting guys like Deng and Afflalo in free agency, along with perhaps a relatively cheap backup vet PG.
Faried, Bender, Deng in; Bazz, Pek out would be a terrific start to the off-season.

Not a fan of this deal, I don't mind Faried but I think this would take us out of the Buddy sweepstakes and any other top SG Thibs might be targeting.

Yes, LST. That's what I was thinking. If we did this deal for Faried, then I see us using free agency to bolster the team at the SF position. It would mean pursuing Deng instead of Noah. I really think we're going to end up with one or the other in free agency.
As Thibs said yesterday, they need to factor in free agency in their draft decision-making. So if they think they have a better chance of signing Noah or would prefer Noah, then I don't see them doing the Faried deal or drafting a big. But if they're more inclined or likely to sign Deng, then the Faried deal becomes more attractive. Lots of variables. But the good news is that it sounds like our front office is extraordinarily well-prepared to deal with those variables.

Re: Lots of talks about wolves getting faried...
Even though two mocks have Bender dropping to 7, I have a feeling that it will be Brown that would actually be there for us...so I've been trying to learn more about him. While there's a lot to like about him, I have to say he would be my least favorite choice in the consensus top 7.
First, the positives. He's big, strong, long and athletic, and was the number two prospect behind Simmons coming out of high school. He also seems to be by far the smartest lottery pick we have seen in a long while...he turned down offers from Kentucky, Kansas and Duke because he plans to get his degree and preferred the academic environment at Berkeley.
All that said, he has some serious weaknesses. Most importantly, he has terrible shooting form for a wing, and the expected poor results, There's little consistency on his jump shot, and he leans back in an odd way on his release. His shot is going to need a lot of work to be even NBA average. He drew fouls at one of the highest NCAA rates last year, but the effectiveness of this skill is limited by his poor 65% free throw rate. He has tremendous potential to be a very good defender capable of defending four positions, but he has a tendency to daydream sometimes on the court.
I would say the difference between Brown's ceiling and floor is as vast as any player in the lottery. If we complete the Denver deal and end up drafting Brown, I would not expect much from him for at least a season. But I also think he is an intriguing prospect. Sometimes high school players who are so physically dominant don't have the need to really perfect their shot, so it's not inconceivable that he has a lot of upside on his jumper. And meanwhile, his size and athleiticsm can carry him a long way.

If we do the faired trade (what I would be sort of shocked by) and we draft brown I would expect thibs to use brown like he did butler in his 1st 2 years. Just come in and D up forget about offense

Lot of talk about Boston liking Brown. If they took him and we made this deal, we probably get Murray or Hield, depending on which one goes first.
PHI: Simmons
LAL: Ingram
BOS: Brown*
PHO: Bender/Chriss
DEN: Murray/Heild
NO: Dunn (probably trades back to someone who covets Dunn)
MIN: ______
