Official 2016 Draft Thread
Re: Official 2016 Draft Thread
Cam forgive me if you have already done so but what is your take on Jaylen Brown? If you want to do a take of him in general instead of being possibly picked by the Wolves that's cool too.

Sorry, but can't get behind the 3 and No-D Murray with his little baby arms and slothlike movements when there will be better options at 5.

He's a PG and many here feel we need someone with shooting ability who can eventually take the reins from Ricky. Murray is a PG and he's putting up shooting/scoring stats comparable to Dunn and others mentioned in this thread. Yet, he's doing it as a freshman compared to the others who are either juniors or seniors.
There's been some chatter of Murray. I liked what I had seen from him pre-season (Canadian play mainly), but that rough first month or two made me cautious. He's heated back up as of late and has put his name back on my radar. I think with him, though, I'm really put off by his defense. It's bad. He's a liability on that end and I don't think we need that. Offensively, man, sky's the limit.
Also, I've brought up Allen a couple times on this board too. He's another guy that's scoring in bunches with great efficiency. I bet his TS% is probably over .600 and I haven't even looked in a while. He's just always nice from the field, over 40% from 3 and above 80% from the line with high volume on all three. And it doesn't take long to see his feel for the game when you watch the guy. It's impressive. Still a sophomore and just 20-years old.
Cam, I agree with the part in bold.

If we went for a big, I'm very intruiged with Deyonta Davis in a trade down. The guy is a great athlete and a terrific shot blocker and rebounder. Very high upside. Would be my target in a trade down.
Murray can't defend. That's why I don't talk about him as much as other guys.
Cam, we used to agree on Murray.

Denver has 3 and possibly 4 first rounders (Their pick which they can swap with the Knicks pick if its lower, the Blazers pick, Memphis pick and Houston's pick if its not in the lottery).
Negative. I'm leaning further away from trading down as we head into the NCAA tourney. I liked it as an option weeks ago, but some players have separated themselves from the rest (mainly Poeltl, Murray, Heild to go with Ingram and Simmons).
Again, I prefer taking the BPA, but Murray is a bad fit for this team and I'd take Bender, Dunn then Valentine over him with no hesitation.
Murray's a high volume, great efficiency shooter from three with a handle and underrated athleticism as a freshman. Offensively he's really nice and we could absolutely use him off the bench. He's just bad defensively and that's part of why I don't like him above some other guys, but he could fit here.
You're overrating Valentine tremendously. I'll say this every time you mention him as a top-five pick consideration.
At least we agree on how terrible Murray is on defense. Drafting as high as 5, there are good two way players. Not interested in a 3 and No D guy.

Re: Official 2016 Draft Thread
TeamRicky, you do realize players grow and get better, right? I've stated his defensive weaknesses in the past. Defense is not his calling card. He has work to do on that end. I've also posted reasons for optimism with him on that end, such as this post:
"Also, while Murray needs to improve defensively, he did hold opponents to just 37% shooting against him and created turnovers on nearly 11% of the possessions he defended. That's actually pretty decent."
You don't draft Murray because you think he's Avery Bradley. You draft him because he's a well-rounded offensive player with an elite skill: perimeter shooting.

I'll touch on Brown tomorrow, monster. He seems to be the man of mystery, along with Bender, in this year's class.

Dunn goes 2nd, Ellenson goes to the Wolves at 5, and Poeltl goes before both Murray and Hield.
Kids, this is why you need to stay away from drugs.
There is one thing i agree with him on, Ben Simmons is far and away the #1 prospect and i don't think it's close. Philly will regret it for years if they decide to pass on him because he'd rather force his way to LA. After that, he loses me for the most part. I love Dunn as much as the next guy (he's my early rookie of the year pick) but Ingram's size, shooting ability, and age make him tough to pass on as the #2. Seeing someone have Sabonis ahead of the likes of Chriss, Davis, etc. was refreshing though.
On another note, I read on the CBS mock draft that Valentine has a issue with his right knee that is causing concern and may cause him to fall to the mid 20s. Anyone hear any reports on that?

Cam, we used to agree on Murray.
Give it a rest man. People's opinions change as they uncover more information about a player(s). It's hard to give someone shit as it is now, you should at least wait until we see them this season for that. See, now Nik Stauskas was a worthwhile jab, but that has pretty much run its course. Really though, at this point in the process we all know you hate Murray at #5 and Cam loves him. I doubt you're going to convince him otherwise, even by digging up things from months ago.

Plenty of room on the Murray wagon, Cool. Welcoming all aboard.
PS: These were pretty entertaining to watch. Murray talking about meditating, clearing his mind, shooting blindfolded, staying focused. Laid-back guy. "Mental part is the most important part of the game." Talked about playing hockey when he was younger. Used to living in cold weather. Seems very mature for his age.
