Oh Right the draft. All this talk about nut shots has taken me off focus. I am intrigued by the Chinese Center - Zhou Qi. If we did the trade down strategy it would be fun to stash him and eventually see him blocking shots next to KAT.
There's some talk that the 20-year old Zhou Qi isn't actually 20... Some scouts believe he was actually born in 1992 or 1993, which would make him 23 or 24-ish. Ouch. I wasn't all that intrigued with him at any point during the process, but if that's true, I really have no interest.
I guess that would change things. His face makes him look 14.
From what I can see he moves well for his size. I think that was the main thing I liked. It seems like bigs have got to move at this point. His frame is scary if he is 23, I was assuming he'd be able to carry a little more weight.
There are more options and fairly different circumstances but I am starting to feel like I did in 2011 when it was take Derrick Williams or do something else. Back then I liked Kanter partly because it seemed obvious Ronzone liked him and I trusted his excitement and scouting chops and reputation more than Kahn at that point. So I was willing to see them move down or even take Kanter if they liked him more. I'm not sold on anyone likely at #5 so if the Wolves get an offer to move down a couple spots that's my preference at this time but it takes 2 teams (plus possibly other teams to be interested to help set value) to make that work. Who knows if there will be a match especially since past the first 2 picks we really don't know what could happen at this point.
In addition at this point as a Wolves fan I feel like we are basically flying blind about the Wolves preferences about any prospect. I haven't heard or seen anything that makes me think anyone has any sort of real read on what guy the Wolves are inclined to take. Maybe they are praying Chriss drops to them or Brown or maybe another big guy they value really highly. Maybe they want one of the guard trio real badly compared to the others. I don't think anyone has a clue or if they do they aren't saying. All the info seems speculative or saying hey they like this guy and yeah they like that guy. I'm fine with that btw. It also means I have no clue how they value the prospects so that probably makes me lean more towards the trade down when unreality they may feel great about being at #5 and picking who is there. I'm intrigued and I have no clue how it will play out. I guess I need to just sit back and watch how it plays out.
Good read on JB. I sense in 3 years when he is same age as Dunn and Hield he will be a better player. It will be interesting what we do in this draft. JB would essentially replace Shabazz on this team, but honestly I am okay with that.

He is sort of an interesting prospect but it feels like it's so much about potential with him. How much do you buy into it? Idk I thought the comments Harper had about him defensively were interesting.
It's interesting you bring up Bazz when talking about Brown. There is plenty of talk about Brown being a small ball PF and the reality is these guys measure out VERY similarly. Brown seems like a better ball handler but I haven't watched him in a game and it sounds like from what Inhave read depending on what game you watched you may come away impressed or think sorta sucks. Going back to Bazz for a minute. How often have we talked about putting Bazz at PF over the last few years? Doesn't that make a ton of sense? I wonder if Thibs will explore that more.
Ingram slips to third in Gottlieb's mock draft behind Dunn. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/doug-gottliebs-nba-draft-big-board-brandon-ingram-doesnt-crack-the-top-2/

Dunn goes 2nd, Ellenson goes to the Wolves at 5, and Poeltl goes before both Murray and Hield.
Kids, this is why you need to stay away from drugs.

I like Gottlieb and he can have some insightful takes but he seems way off here. I wish he would market and frame his takes very strongly as his opinion than anything closer to typical analyst stuff.

Plenty of room on the Murray wagon, Cool. Welcoming all aboard.
PS: These were pretty entertaining to watch. Murray talking about meditating, clearing his mind, shooting blindfolded, staying focused. Laid-back guy. "Mental part is the most important part of the game." Talked about playing hockey when he was younger. Used to living in cold weather. Seems very mature for his age.
