Gasol is getting 15 per likely for 2 years to close out his career. I can't remember which basketball podcast it was on, but they mentioned he was going for 20 million per this summer which I don't think he'll get, but that's where he's at so he's not getting 5-8. Any halfway decent player is getting 10 million per this summer. That's just how the new cap is going to play out. Gasol is better than halfway decent so I would ballpark him in the 15 million range.
Who said $5m-$8m? How about 3/$30m? If Gasol is MIN's only major F/A signing this offseason, it should be considered successful.
The Future said he'd take that as a pay cut to play for a contender and I'm saying that's not happening based on what I've heard on NBA podcasts about what he's looking for this summer.
Yikes...a guy that big and strong hitting over 42% of his threes with decent volume! Also, likely available at 23 if we did that deal with Boston (5 for 16 and 23).

More on him.

Can't say this is big news, but it's interesting it comes from someone connected with the Wolves...

Appears to be 2 "tiers" at top of draft w/ Simmons & Ingram then group of 5 w/ Hield, Murray, Bender, Brown & Dunn going in some order 3-7.

Thanks for that, bleed. It's interesting to me that they have concerns about his size, but 6-8 240 with a 7 foot wingspan sounds like an NBA PF to me. Certainly a possibility if we get a pick in the 20s.

The draft is a month away but that seems like sort of a consensus right now from everything I see also. So the question in my mind is what guy would love to fall to the Wolves? I want Bender and then after that...Murray. I'm warming up more to a trade down scenario though depending on who is available at 5.
I would like to get Murray at 5 or trade down. The other guys I see projected in the top 10 are not any better than the guys projected in the top 20 to me. It is like we have a pair of 2 guys at tier two, 2-3 at tier three, and 15-20 at tier four.

Ok. We're in agreement there. He will command a good contract. And I am in favor of MIN being the one giving it to him.
