I think there will be pretty good options at 8: Luwawu, Baldwin, Valentine, Poeltl could all potentially be available. so I'm not averse to trading back a little. Seth Curry is a guy I mentioned signing as a free agent last year but the idea was shot down quickly so I find it interesting that some now want to acquire him. He's a free agent though so he's not really a trade target. McLemore shot 42% beyond the arc in college and had a superb TS% and he has the athleticism to be a plus defender. He hasn't shown much fire though and the big question is whether Thibs could get it out of him. Casspi is the better player now, but McLemore has the higher upside. Both players are on their final year so their trade value isn't worth much unless we could extend them cheaply. Alternatively, we could seek a future first rounder with some protection as the price for trading down.

3 of those players I really want no business with for this team in the top 10. Luwawu, Baldwin and Poeltl. Luwawu is a big project. Poeltl i'm worried will be a kosta koufos type in the pros, not bad, but nothing special. Baldwin has good upside as a 3 and D guy, but I don't see the PG with him. His handle is not where it should be, he lacks a good bball iq, and struggles at the rim. Maybe in the 20 range, but not top 10.

Just not a fan of Dunn and have my concerns about Heild. I would go Heild over for me. I wonder if Denzel Valentine can play PG in the NBA. I am sure he would struggle guarding PG at this level.

Interested in why people like Deyonta Davis over Marquese Chriss. Chriss seems like he has higher upside.

The way I see it, they are both skilled at 1 or 2 things and both are very athletic for bigs.

Davis has his defense and rebounding. He shows decent form on his jumper, but he isn't close to being a real offensive threat yet. He's a scrappy offensive player, putbacks and such.

Chriss has offense right now, mid range out to 3pt on his jumpshot and can drive to the rim. He's not a good/willing passer, Rebounding isn't there, effort on defense isn't there.

Davis may never provide much on offense other than offensive rebound put backs and some alley oops/easy feeds inside, but i'd be fine with that on this team. Davis and Chriss both have top end potential, but Davis just fits our team going forward much better with Wiggins, LaVine, Towns, Dieng, and Shabazz all knowing how to put the ball in the basket. We need that protector, rebounder, clean-up guy.

If the auguement is Ben Mac as a role player I can see that and it seems that was what the teams at the trade deadline were looking at also but I think he had played better early on in the season and then didn't play as well especially on defense but the season was over Karl was a lame duck etc. there really are some legit excuses for Ben.

I think it was Wolfson that said something about him having interest in coming here last year around the trade deadline and I think it was reported that the Kings were trying to find a spot for him. But take what Wolfson said about him wanting to come for what that's worth. On the other hand he and Wiggins are doing a basketball camp together this summer because they are both Kansas guys.

I will say I don't have a problem using #5 to get a vet player AND a later pick for a project player. But this team has some very glaring holes, and they are a higher priority than a project player if the goal is making noise in the playoffs next year.

I agree with either staying at #5 or trading down a bit to pick up a vet role player + a lottery pick still. It provides us with competent play from a savvy vet and keeps our chance of hitting a homerun intact. I do not want to trade our #5 for just a vet unless we're getting a fringe all-star talent that is 22-26, and that won't happen. Some are getting too far ahead on our expectations with these Wolves in the West. I want our team to prove they can contest for a 6th-8th slot before I start mortgaging young talent/future (#5 pick) just for a right now! vet player in the 28-32 age range. If we play this right, we won't need to trade any assets to get those players looking for their 2nd-4th contract. They will come to TheFuture.

Good info on the camp he and Wiggins are doing. It wouldn't hurt to have McLemore, and he was on the Kings. Talk about low morale his last 3 years. He would provide value backing up LaVine/Wiggins at the 2, with no pressure to be better than a 7th-10th player on our team. A stable environment may be just what he needs, but I still would prefer Casspi if I had the choice of one. I'm sure joerger will be looking to keep his young talent to see what he can bring out of them this season anyhow. I know Memphis is a well run organization, and has shown to win consistently, but Joerger has to be excited to coach Cousins, WCS, Gay, McLemore, as well as a #8 pick coming this year.

2. And once again, Lip and I solved this: PGasol, Noah, a PG at #5, and Payne for Kendall Marshall. What are you guys going to do when this team gets up and rolling and you have nothing to complain about?

Noah, no thanks. I don't see his personality being a fit with our nucleus, and If we're throwing money at a big they better be able to play consistently. Can't afford another KG/Pek on this roster. P Gasol, no thanks. Would cost too much at his age, wouldn't get us over the top. Prefer a better defender to pair with Towns than an offensive minded big. Pg at #5, I'd be fine with that. Payne for Marshall, that'd be nice, but I doubt Payne is anything more than a salary filler in a larger trade at this point.

How much more would Gasol cost than the $8m player option he is walking away from?
Have you look at Marshall's stats the last two years?

Jason Draft express has Baldwin at #17 right now. It seems his size and athletic ability plus being young and some theoretical skills put him as a nice prospect. I personally haven't really formed an opinion on him.

I think it's very possible that both Pau and Noah get a big chunk of money and it may come from the Bulls. I've seen some reports that Pau wants a bigger payday. Why not? The guy just put up 16-11 and 2 blocks a game last year. Getting Boah and Pau to me seems unrealistic to me.

Im all in on your idea for Kendall Marshall though. What I remember is he actually (based on advanced stats) has played better at SG than PG but he can slide over there if we had an injury. I don't know how he is valued over there but I don't know if anyone in the league actually values Payne so I'd be thrilled if we could make that deal for 3,546 ways. :)

1) Noah comes off as a prick. I don't see the humble Towns/Wiggins meshing well with his personality type. He also is not the defensive standout he had been early in his career. Not exactly injury prone, but definitely falling off. Don't get me wrong, he is an excellent rebounder, passer, and is a good defender. I'm just not a big fan of the fit and I'd prefer to spend the money on a true 4 or a big 3/small ball 4 though.

2) Well he is walking away from $8mil. So I see two options: He goes to a team for more money, or he takes 5-8mil on a true contender. I don't want to be the team that pays him extra to be here, and we surely aren't worthy of a contender discount.

3) No I haven't looked at his recent stats, but I have watched him. I know he has proven he belongs in the NBA more than I expect Payne ever will. Either way, trade payne for marshall, or don't. This one doesn't matter. Both 13th-15th guys on the bench.
