Around the League
Re: Around the League
I got pretty adamant last year that even when Simmons was taking the league by storm defenses would catch up. They always do. Remember when the uniqueness of Rubio had teams baffled pre injury? Then the word gets out, teams game plan, and offensive production stifles. The primary ball handler has got to at least have a shot in this league. If Simmons doesn't expand his game Philly fans are going to eventually call for him to be traded. It would be sad too because Simmons has so much natural talent, but maybe the problem is that other aspects of the game came too easy to him.

They may catch up, but he also may be the unique type of talent that defenses never catch up to. He's averaging 14.5/9.6/7.6 on 53% shooting. But the addition of a ball-dominant guy like Butler may be a huge challenge for Simmons. A guy like Ball will defer to a superstar like LeBron, but I don't see Simmons deferring to Butler, and Butler won't defer to anyone. I predict trouble once the honeymoon period is over, probably sooner than later.

No way man don't take him away from playing 3 on 3 we need him to help USA medal in the Olympics!
Also if you want a Robbie Hummel type Canyon Barry down in Iowa night be that guy...or maybe even better.

I'm not sure anyone would disagree that for Simmons to be a star he needed to have a jumpshot. The thing Simmons has going for him to keep him really valuable even without a jumper is he is a 6'9"/6'10" guy that has legit high level PG skills and rebounds etc. in his first NBA season he was considered an above average defender. Without a junpshot (which he could still develop) he might not be a transformational player but he can be extremely valuable. I enjoy watching him play. I remember the concerns about him playing hard and playing defense coming out of college and I was worried about that...I'm glad he seems to have gotten past that.

Great to see the Sixers lose at home to the Cavs tonight. Jimmy shot well, scoring 22 points. But he had only 2 assists and 2 rebounds. That was truly a bad loss. At some point, Jimmy will start to turn on the younger guys and things could get ugly in their lockeroom.
Josh Richardson scored 27 points in a Miami win over the Bulls tonight. Although Covington scored only 7 points, he did have 5 steals and played his typical terrific defense today against the Nets.

Hmm...I wonder who JRich was matched up against? I'm thinking I might be able to still go off for 20 against Zach...well, at least if my shot were dropping :). Wig has been dreadful the past 5 games, shooting only 37%. Being guarded by Zach might be just what he needs to score 30 tonight.

So far this season, Richardson is averaging 20.5 points. He's shooting 44.5% from the field and and 43.7% from behind the arc. He's also averaging 85% from the line on 3.7 attempts per game. LaVine must have been guarding him all season so far. :). Looking at Wiggins' stats this season, LaVine will have to play on one leg tonight for Wiggins to have a shot a at 30 points.

Yep, it's a good night for Zach when he can hold his man to within 7 points of his per game average...didn't work out as well a couple weeks ago against Klay. Wig has been struggling on offense for awhile, but a night playing against The Matador is just what the doctor ordered!

I don't think it matter who is covering wiggs.
There are only 2 people stopping wiggs right now, himself and thibs.

Nobody talking about Lavine shooting 30% from 3 this year?
