Very little from Chicago's front office in recent years makes much sense.
I'm shocked those guys still have their jobs.
This was simply a salary dump from Houston. Chicago offered up a highly protected pick that will likely never convey and Houston sent along cash to make it worth Chicago's time.
They waived MCW also. I would hate to be a bulls fan

Ok it turns out this deal was all about money. Nevermind nothing to see here.

I think he is an NBA point guard just not a star one. It's pretty similar to Rubio. The expectations were just too high. That doesn't mean that player sucks they just are flawed and you have to work around those. What helped Rubio was his size and he had some ability to defend which actually got better. Lonzo is bigger and probably a better defender. I would have taken Fox over Lonzo and I liked Lonzo I was just worried about the "upside" of him.

Its hard go no he has played bad in 2 of his last 3 but he had a 21/5/7 game sandwiched in between them.
I don't be will live up to the high 2nd overall expectations but I think he can be damn damn good on the Wolves.
He moves the ball, runs offense, can hit open 3s, good defender and running PnR with Kat is different than with McGee.
Ball is definitely unique for PGs these days. He's in that Rubio-Tyus Jones-Rondo type category of pass first, solid defense, struggles with outside shooting. His style would be very familiar to us!
Pop just takes every player that analytics hates and makes them winners. Aldridge, Gay, and Derozan were universally hated by stat nerds. I love San Antonio more each year. Pop truly emulates what's still great about basketball even in this area. It's a game of matchups. That's what I always loved about Flip and why I have hope for Saunders.

He has also played with style that all analytics hate. San Antonio has taken least three pointers of all teams despite having the best three point accuracy by wide margin, correspondingly they have used most post-up possessions and shot by far most mid range jump shots. Yet they have still pretty good record and they have been great after rough start.
For example last night in double overtime game, they shot three pointers ridiculous 84% yet they still took only 19 of them. It almost looks like Pop is doing this just to show all stat nerds that you can win even by playing totally wrong way compared to other teams. I still wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly shot much more treys when playoffs start.

The biggest thing with Pop is that his teams make the extra pass every....single....time. It's like drilled into them from the get go in his program. I think he still believes the best shot is an open one, regardless if it's a 2 or 3, so he won't have guys forcing up 3s with a guy in their grill if an extra pass will yield an open 2 point shot.
But does anyone here thing Bryn Forbes, Derrick White, or Davis Bertans would have amounted to anything if drafted/signed by the Wolves? They'd either be in the G-League, riding the end of the bench, or out of the NBA. Yet they are major pieces in Pop's rotation.

Yet San Antonio has shot 2nd least wide open shots in league. They are 3rd in open shots tough.
