I share your frustration, however, two first-round draft picks, two second-rounders, Landry Shamet, Mike Muscala, and Wilson Chandler is far from spare parts or a bargain.
Consider Orlando traded Tobias Harris (with 4 years left on his deal) for 1/2 year of Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova!
Tobias Harris' contract is up this summer. It's not a bargain for Philly at all.
That team faces a lot of questions moving forward... with two star players on expiring deals.
Wow. I suspect the Wolves could have gotten this deal for Butler - 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, Shamet, Muscala and Chandler. Or maybe we could have gotten Covington, Shamet and the two first round picks instead of Saric. Interesting to think about.

That's a bigtime price for a guy you are gonna have to pay a bunch of money for. Still a lineup of Harris Butler simmons and Embiid and Redick is a hell of a starting group and Harris adds some shooting. Not sure if there are enough balls to go around but Harris does have the complimentary skill set.
So Clippers basically turned Blake Griffin into a hell of a package. I seriously think Some team out there will give the Wolves something of moderate value for Wiggins. Not a big piece but something positive. I know I know it sounds crazy but it keeps sounding like there are teams out there that are interested.

Yeah, sounds like a couple of teams have inquired about Wiggins. It doesnt look like we have give unprotected picks like some suggest, but I doubt we get back anything good. I think teams are looking to see if layden wants to do a straight salary dump.

Wow, I'd take this deal over our Butler deal. I'm listening to the Dun'c on podcast. I share a lot of their views in general. They love this deal for the Clips, generally feel Philly gave up too much. I absolutely hate our team vision and front office! Obviously it starts with the owner but this is depressing for me but a huge Wolves fan.
The only teams that will take Wig are middling teams such as Charlotte or Orlando, teams that continue to struggle to get the 7-8th seed and foolishly see upside in him. I used to put SacTown in this category but I question if they are dumb enough to do that now. Inserting Wig with SacTowns young core would be so dumb.
I don't know if De-Aaron Fox blowing up is enough to make the Kings brass look smart all of a sudden.
Remember, it's the same regime who only 18 months ago signed Zach Randolph and George Hill to large, multi-year contracts... and passed on Luka Doncic last summer.
Getting to .500 is cool... but not all that difficult for literally every other team this side of MN and Sacramento.
I watched the replay in about an hour, so probably missed a lot. Such a strange game...looked like a dual tanking with 12 players out between the two teams. Tough to come back from a 19-point deficit in the first couple minutes, but I thought we played hard and almost got it done. When you outrebound your opponent 55-39 and your PGs have 14 assists and only 1 turnover, you would think a win was likely. but our PGs also made only 2 of 14 shots and the team made 6 fewer threes than Memphis. Wiggins was maddingly terrible with his 5-18 shooting and sloppy turnovers...it's almost impossible to hold out any hope for this guy. Taj and Tolliver were also very bad, but at least Ryan recognized this and limited them to 13 minutes apiece.
But there were positives. I thought everyone played hard after the dreadful passive start (you just can't afford to think you can just show up and win...especially missing 4 players). Saric was terrific in all facets of the game (you don't often see a +29 in a loss!). Deng continues to make POBO Thibs look like a genius and coach Thibs look like a clueless fool. Gorgui's 8-6 in only 12 minutes was impressive. And finally I thought Okogie played his best game of the year. While the box score didn't register any steals, his defense was aggressive and disruptive and remindful of why we wanted him to get more minutes at the start of the year. And offensively he played within himself for one of the few times this year with 11 points on 8 shots. He obviously made a bonehead play at the end of the game that ultimately led to a heartbreaking loss, but it was still a hustle play and I'm not going to let it detract from an overall good effort. For one of the few times this season I saw the potential some on this board see in him.
Edit: Sorry...meant to post this in the game thread

I will mention that guy (Scott Perry) that was supposedly responsible for those vet deals is with the Knicks now. But I think your point is still valid. It was only a few months ago there was talk about how someone in the organization wanted Jowrger fired. I thought they made some moves this last offseason that made more sense so maybe they are less dumb now. I think they wouldn't be interested in Wiggins because they have less need with a legit talented group. They don't really have a guy that's a real SF so...that's the only thing I could see.

I pretty much agree with this take and summery. I should say I did know the Wolves stayed off behind by double digits when I started watching so that colored how I viewed the game to start.
