Edwards next year
Edwards next year
I'm curious what everyone's expectations are for him in year two to justify his standing as the number 1 pick.
Re: Edwards next year
Yesterday I was comparing Edwards current numbers to Andrew Wiggins Rookie numbers. They were just as good or better in most categories. The only thing Wiggins had significantly in his favor was FT attempts. I'd like to see how Edwards finishes out the season. He has a chance to put up some pretty good numbers depending on what he does down the stretch. Expectations might be somewhat hard also because there are a lot of perimeter guys on this team what exactly should be expected of him in terms of volume numbers?

Sure we have perimeter guys but he's our first pick in the draft guy. His volume numbers matter more. Right or wrong.

He needs to make more shots and get to the line. His TS% is worse than Rubio's this year. That's...
(checking my notes)
not good.

I expect him transcend time and space and raise up to heavens to only come back 3 days later. Also I like him to develop a floater game that's better than mine.

With the exception of KAT, every top two pick the Wolves have had has been a player who would not have been drafted that high in a draft not devoid of franchise level talent. Ant has all the tools to be great, but his draft position doesn't mean he's as likely to be great as your typical number one pick.
My expectations, he's a Wolf in his second season, that usually means a season ending injury is coming.

Well I agree, but as this board has shown he is already being judged for the things he's not doing early in his career as opposed to the things he is doing. So I'm curious what he needs to do in the off-season to put himself in good standing as the first pick.

Improve on making winning plays. This year Ant has shown legit signs of what he can be. Overall though he has been one of the main reasons the Wolves are the worst team in the NBA (What is fine he is a rookie that has shown rookie). He needs to shoot a better % and be more locked in on defense. Also needs to improve his off ball work because the majority of his baskets come from Isolations and realistically he will be #3 in the offensive pecking order next year.

Like nearly every rookie ever drafted by the Wolves: Shooting, shooting, shooting, and more shooting. And not just 3's. Defenses are gong to drop on him and his pull-up game off the dribble has to get way better. Adding a floater or runner to his arsenal would help too.
I think getting more calls and playmaking will continue to grow with just sheer age and experience. But the outside shot has to get better for him to really turn into an elite lead guard eventually.
