Summer League

Post by Coolbreeze44 »

First, does anyone know if there will be a summer league this year? Normally it's for first and second year players and I'm wondering who might play for the Wolves. I doubt Ant would play, but it would be a lot of fun to see Ant, Jaden, and maybe Nowell and Bolmaro play together.

Not sure, Cool. I was wondering the same thing. My wife and I decided that we'll go if it happens this summer, assuming they allow fans in the stands. I'd definitely like to see Nowell and Bolmaro play together in Summer League if it happens. I don't think I'd risk having Ant and Jaden play. They should stay here working out and working on their games.

Sounds like they plan to do it in August.

My guess is at most McDaniels will play a couple games and then sit things out. I don't think a lot of the international guys play in that league because of various commitments and they play a lengthy season. Maybe it being later means Bolmoro would play some if he comes over. I wouldn't be shocked if Nowell only played a couple games too unless their goal is to try and get him to be a PG. Vanderbilt if he wasn't a FA would be a guy that might be getting some run. The guy that might actually end up playing some (maybe a lot) if he is still on the roster is Culver and he might even benefit from it. I'm sure the Wolves will sign at least one 2 way player. I doubt Ant will play. Either way I'd love to go to Vegas for summer league if not this year someday soon.

Monster - You should definitely go sometime. It is really a blast. I've gone 5 times and definitely plan on going again.

I'm still kinda kicking myself for not going...I think it was the last year they had it. August might be a good time to do another short vacation.

I'll probably go in the near future and will probably go if the Wolves keep their pick.

I don't think Ant or McDaniels will play in SL. The reason I could see McDaniels playing is running offense through him every possession.

I think Nowell, Culver and possibly Bolmaro could be on that team next year

Typically players going into their 3rd year don't play in summer league. Bolmaro would be good to see.

As you said, there might be a specific area they want to see McDaniels or Edwards focus on and then run them out there for just a game or two as a test run. McDaniels as a #1 scoring option and Edwards as a pure PG for example.

Summer league is a really fun experience...sitting really close to young players playing hard, cheap ticket prices, seeing NBA stars in the casino, and 115 degree Vegas in the summer! That said, I only go when my Wolves have a few players I really want to watch. Assuming they let fans in this summer, I'll go if we keep our draft pick for sure, and maybe if Bolmaro plays. The other factor that might get me there is if at least two of the Big Three in this year's draft are playing in Vegas rather than Salt Lake City. Every serious NBA fan should go to Summer League at least once.

I'm considering going to the summer league this year for a few days. I was looking at the tickets for the event and it seemed like it was a little more than it was the last time but maybe I am misremembering. Of course I think that was almost 2 years ago. Lol

My honey and I decided a couple months ago that we would definitely go this summer if the wolves got a top three pick. Our new plan is to go if Bolmaro and at least one of Ant, Jaden and Nowell commit to play. I actually wouldn't be shocked if Culver plays despite being a third year player, since he has never played in Summer League before. I would love to see at least Bolmaro and Jaden. I also hope that the top 3 draft picks all play in Las Vegas (instead of the other site in Utah) if we go.
