Rosas better have something up his sleeve before the season starts. We've got over 30 mil locked up in Ricky, Juancho and Culver. Its insane. Too bad the ole sucker teams just looking to save long term money dont exist as much anymore.
I think you're right, Doper. The Wolves will have to make the playoffs to avoid a situation next summer where KAT wants out. I don't even think it will be enough to make the play-in tournament if we don't make the playoffs. The good news is that KAT will bring a big return in the trade market and we already have a couple of really nice young building blocks in Ant and McDaniels. The bad news is that Gersson's poor cap management has limited this team's ability to bolster the roster this summer. I still think there's a rebuilding team out there that will give us a future 2nd-round pick for Culver, which would free up salary space to pursue a quality free agent big. I also think there's potential to deal Ricky for a player who can help.

If they're a disappointment by next year's trade deadline I'll want KAT out.
We might not know by the trade deadline. We might be in the mix for the play-in tournament at that time. In any event, the Wolves won't trade him at the February trade deadline. If the Wolves miss the playoffs next season, KAT will likely be dealt next summer. Then again, there are a lot of variables.

I'd like to believe so. Unfortunately, I doubt there's any team out there that wants Juancho on their roster at $7 million. I do think Ricky has some value to a contender and I remain convinced that there are a few teams out there that would give up a little to take a flier on Culver, who was a consensus top 6 pick just two years ago.
If I were Rosas, I'd see what I could get for a package of Ricky, Culver and Layman. If someone is interested in Juancho, then great. But otherwise, I see him having negative trade value. Would that trio of players plus a future 2nd round pick be enough to land Myles Turner? I don't think so. How about Steven Adams? Actually, I think that would be realistic.

I think there are teams that wouldn't mind having Juancho if they are sending out other salary (in a bigger deal than Juancho being the headliner) and getting him back. I'm not saying he has positive trade value but I think a team would see him as someone they could use on their roster. I think there are teams that might even think they are buying low by taking him back. He turns 26 in September. I'm not suggesting he has some limitless potential or something but I do think some teams might think they could get more out of him. If Juancho hit his 3's at like 37% his value would obviously go up. I wouldn't plan for Juancho to somehow start being a worthwhile 3 point shooter but it also wouldn't surprise me if it happened. Sixers Pacers and Pels might have use for a guy like Juancho even if it's just as a rotation guy. Everything I've heard is he is a great teammate so that doesn't hurt.

I agree with you. I don't think Juancho has negative value and I don't think he has positive value. I think teams would easily be willing to take on Juancho as a piece in a bigger deal to match salary. He can just sit in the corner and shoot 3s and if he fails at that he is an expiring for teams and if he does do that well teams can pick up his option.
I am going to say it again. I would not be suprised if the Wolves would be looking at a Rubio, Hernangomez and a protected 1st for Porzingis trade. It gets the Mavs off that Porzingis contract and this contract allows the Mavs to clear up max cap space in 2022 when there is a ton of free agents who might want to team up with Luka, they also would be getting a pick. For the Wolves they would be adding a 20 point per game scorer who is a good shooter and shot blocker and really increases our length. Obviously the downside to Porzingis is he didn't show up in the playoffs, he is injured a lot and rumors are he didn't get along with Luka but also has a big long contract still. The reason I would gamble on him though because at his best he is still really damn good. We could add him without giving up a huge asset and I am banking on Luka might just be an asshole Diva. Luka ran Carilse out of town, didn't get along with the GM, reports are he hated Haralabob and he doesn't get along with Porzingis. I am banking on Luka is the asshole in this situation and in a new situation Porzingis might flourish (Obviously the injury history scares me).
Sorry Kek, I get your logic, but I just can't get excited about the prospect of bringing Porzingis in. I'd prefer Dwight Powell and his contract and overall fit vs. what we'd get with Porzingis.

I think if Dallas was going to move Porzingis they would have better offers than that. I get he might be overpaid and have injury issues but he is basically a lesser version of AD with both guys having a huge impact defensively when they are on the floor. Honestly it might be worth taking a chance on Porzingis because I think he would fit pretty well here.he is a guy capable of playing really well and still has some level of upside as he turns 26 next month.
The other question I have about him is...i worry a bit about Porzingis being happy also. He had a lot of reasons to want out from the Knicks but it seemed like from what I remember he didn't really seem Happy at about anything at some point. How has he been in Dallas? Is it just Luka that's the problem or is Porzingis part of the problem with their relationship too? Does Porzingis see himself as a star?
Ultimately if I was going to go in on Porzingis I would be willing to give up more than what you are suggesting like adding Beasley instead of Juancho. It's a lot more value but it also does help salary both this year and beyond also. I see Jason Kidd is the Mavs new coach. I wonder if that will shape what they want to do with the roster to some extent.
