Yeah it will be interesting to see how far Trae Young can take things on sheer skill. Steph Curry was a bit of a waif-ish guard in their title runs but his skill level was so off-the-charts it didn't matter. And he's a bit better built than Young I believe.
Isaiah Thomas (the current one, not the former Piston) is someone who at one point was a prolific scorer with the Celts and he never got a big contract and has just been shuffled around. He's a bit of an extreme I guess. And Kemba hasn't been a big help....IDK....may be short-ish point guards just don't age well.

Trae Young is sort of a Curry-light. That's not a knock on Young who has emerged as a great NBA player this season, especially in the playoffs. Curry has aged well and I don't now that he's built better than Young. But Young isn't the Mozart scorer that Curry is.

Also what did you think of Toppin in his limited minutes?
Monster - I totally agree with you on Collins. I was opposed to trading for him before and watching him in the playoffs has firmed up my view. I still like him, but I wouldn't want to give him anything close to a max contract. I'd definitely consider swapping Beasley for him straight up if Collins got essentially the same contract as Beasley. But I wouldn't give up a future 1st and Beasley, nor would I pay him max money.

A close game so far in game 6 of the Clippers/Mavs series. But I'll be surprised if the Mavs don't win the series tonight. Tonight's game is showing that it's not all Luka. It's a lesson that you can't expect to win a title with two superstars and a bunch of bodies. In addition to Luka and Porzingis, the Mavs have Tim Hardaway, Jalen Brunson, Dwight Powell, Max Kleber and Boban. That's five really good players in addition to the Mavs' two stars. So yes, Luka is the best player on the floor. But they also have a much deeper reservoir of high quality players. They also have one of the NBA's best head coaches.
Re: NBA Playoff Thread
If the Clippers extend the series tonight, it will be because of Kawhi Leonard. With Luka playing, he's not the best player on the floor. But he's a close second.

Come on Lip. You listed off players that are inconsequential on most teams. Luka is winning this series.

Lol. I know you're kidding. I'd love to have Tim Hardaway, Brunson and Bobo on the Wolves roster. Even Kleber is a 38% 3-point shooter. Dwight Powell's pretty good too.
Re: NBA Playoff Thread
Pork - Have you been watching this Finney-Smith guy? Looks like MJ to me. And how about that WCS dunk? Or how about Brunson drawing a foul on Leonard (although it was really a charge on Brunson)?
Re: NBA Playoff Thread
I forgot to mention Josh Smith. He's barely gotten any minutes in this playoff series, but he'd be a starter on most teams.
Re: NBA Playoff Thread
This Dallas team could win the whole thing. They looked terrible against the Wolves last month, but they're playing really well right now. Luka is special. Further, he's surrounded by a lot of talent and they are all coached by one of the League's best.
