Yes, he did some nice things in Summer League and the G-League, but he was awful in his stint with our big league team. He was supposed to be a shooter and........wait for it.....shot 26% from 3 and 39% from the field overall in 31 games. He repeated the well-worn pattern we've seen time and again with guys that should shoot well in theory, but then don't once they don a Wolves uniform. Jaylen Nowell is the latest iteration of this particular curse.

Q trust me I don't actually get carried away with Kelan Martin. For me in this conversation about various player values I'm also looking at what he did in his limited games with the Pacers this season where he was much more efficient overall although obviously it's a small sample size. Is Kelan Martin an NBA player? We don't really know at this point.

Yeah, Martin was a disappointment with the Wolves. But he was very good with the Pacers at the end of the season when he got the chance to play 20+ minutes a game in their final 10 or so games. He shot 40% on threes and really impressed the Pacer coaching staff and fans with his defense. He's an unorthodox athlete, but I'm going to predict he will stick with the Pacers as one of the first wings off the bench. He was consistently good at the end of last season.

Well, that follows the Wolves script perfectly then! Can't shoot in a Wolves uniform, but then suddenly discovers his stroke with another team. He did get regular playing time with the Wolves for a stretch, but alas, he couldn't make shots. Sigh.

The bottom line is that he was a 24-year old prospect that struggled to make any impact with the Wolves. It's tough to blame the franchise for quickly moving on from him given his performance and age.

Kelan made a whopping 24 three pointers last season.

Not saying that he's closer to the 26% shooter he was in MN... only that it might be a small sample size to be definitive either way.
