NBA Playoff Thread
Re: NBA Playoff Thread
I echo all of the sentiments of people here in their love of Kawhi and his game. Hes great. But I have to say Paul George is all hype the last few years. He makes horrible decisions and whines like he's a superstar. His play and attitude on the court makes the Clippers really difficult for me to pull for in spite of loving Kawhi.

Doper - I was going to write something similar about Paul George, but you beat me to it. Paul George isn't the #2 he's been cracked up to be. He had a terrible turnover in the 4th quarter today. As you said, his decision-making isn't very good and he whines a lot. He's a good defender, though. And fortunately for the Clippers, Kawhi is incredible.

I agree with the above posts:
Paul George is a really good player. I agree he probably isn't a clear #2 guy on a championship team. Still there is no shame in being a 2a or 2b type guy on a championship team like Ray Allen or Chris Bosh or Love etc. I think Paul George is probably better player than a couple of the guys I listed. He leaves you wanting more at times but part of that is because he does a lot of good stuff.

But I'm a bigger fan of Kawhi. I just love his drive and killer instinct. I also love the way he goes about his business - no antics, no bravado, no whining. He just quietly goes about his business - the business of winning.
If I were Chris Finch, I'd tell KAT to spend every night this off-season watching game film of Kawhi. I'd tell KAT to pay particular attention to how Kawhi conducts himself after a bad call goes against him. What does he do? He keeps his mouth shut and just keeps playing.
Yes. On the court.
But no residual frustration or disappointment in Leonard for the way he finished out his tenure in San Antonio?
Not a great look for the guy.

I think what we've seen with Dallas is that you just can't make a deep playoff run with one super elite player and a bunch of good role players. Luka needs help, but I'm not sure where it's going to come from.

Hmm...I'm kinda surprised at the overall lack of love for George here. I really appreciate his all-around game, and would take him on my team any day. I wonder if some of the criticism is because he isn't Kawhi. George is without question a terrific #2 on the Clippers, and would be a terrific #1 on most other teams. I consistently marvel at his defense...I see him as one of the most disruptive players in the league. His defense alone makes him a great player, but he also put up 23/7/5 this season with 41% 3-point shooting. No, he's not LeBron, Kawhi or Durant, but he's easily in the next tier of superstars. I love KAT, but George' 2-way excellence would instantly make him the best player on the Wolves.

Yeah, George is one of these guys that seems like he should be making more of an impact when watching live, but then you look at the box score and you realize he really is making an impact. Not sure what it is about him that makes him seem less effective than he really is. As Abe said, may be it's because he plays with Kawhi who is so damn good.

If Paul George was on the Wolves he would likely be the 2nd best player to play for the franchise. The reality is though the bar isn't super high for that distinction. Nobody is saying George sucks it's just that we want more especially if you are looking at a championship level team. The guy is a really good player. What might actually be more fair to ask about the Clippers is if they have enough beyond George and Leonard to be true contenders.

Geez, the Bucks just getting eviscerated by Brooklyn. The thing is, it's not like Brooklyn is hanging 140 points on them. The Bucks are struggling on offense against a supposedly defensively challenged team! The Bucks with 107 points in Game 1 and tonight well under 100 points scored. What the hell happened? And Harden isn't even playing!
Re: NBA Playoff Thread
This Suns team is pretty good. They've got a lot of moxie as well as talent. Chris Paul and Jae Crowder give them a lot of toughness. The Wolves could use a guy like Crowder. I like all the remaining teams in the playoffs except the Nets. And they're all pretty evenly matched except for the Nets.
