Re: Lowe Post with Jon K
I just finished listening to it, actually. I didn't hear anything all that different or eye-opening from Jon Krawczynski, and Zach Lowe was his usual self. Lowe didn't seem to be all that high on Jaden McDaniels or Malik Beasley from what I heard -- questioning whether either were starting caliber players. He also seemed to think there's no way Minnesota can be involved in a Ben Simmons trade without including D'Angelo Russell... while simultaneously noting that he's never been a D-Lo guy. Once again, I find it funny when people who don't value D-Lo try to include him in trades for stars. It's contradictory at best and ridiculous at worst. Anyways, he proposed a Russell, Beasley, and multiple first-round picks type trade on a different podcast and they discussed it. Krawczynski pushed back with the draft-laden deals floating around. They both agreed that a third team would be useful, but then they didn't suggest who that third team could be, which is what I was hoping to hear on this episode.

Lowe is one of the biggest mcdaniels supporters from a national perspective. It's just once again mcdaniels is mostly hype with eye test involved. His raw numbers are meh. (Once again in high on mcdaniels).
Think it was a good back and forth. Think Lowe is right that Simmons best fit is with the wolves. Think Lowe is right that a pick package puts the 76ers in a werid spot that need to wait until another star becomes available. Think Jon is right when he asks Lowe what else is out there for him.
This is going to be one of the most interesting trades in NBA history. Really interesting spot for morey
Re: Lowe Post with Jon K
I thought the whole podcast was somewhat interesting. I thought the stuff Lowe and Marks talked about in the first part was interesting.
Lowe seems to be somewhat positive on the Wolves outlook at they currently stand. I thought he really was bullish on Towns potential as a top NBA player in terms of talent.

I agree with Lowe's take on Towns. He has the talent and skill level of a top-10 player. It just hasn't all come to for him yet. That was probably the part I most enjoyed. And I don't know how positive Lowe really was in regards to the Wolves. He said it was a funky roster that could be in the hunt for the 10th seed. That seems to be less than optimistic.

Brian Scalabrine made two points today regarding the Wolves that I found interesting. He's always been a guy who thought the Wolves were fleeced in the Russell trade (I agree). Today he said from a Wolves perspective the trade was dumb (exact words). He cited how stupid it was to try and appease Towns by bringing in a friend, and that not protecting our first round pick better was crazy. The second thing he said was more controversial in my opinion. He said Ben Simmons offers more value than KAT, and that the two of them could be principal elements of a trade between the two teams. He said Simmons has been able to elevate his team to the best record in the Eastern conference, whereas KAT has never come close to that team success. Don't shoot the messenger over this. Just sharing another viewpoint from a connected NBA source. Personally I wouldn't trade KAT for Simmons, but when you think about it, we all tend to over value Towns. If you're being honest with yourself, he just hasn't made a big impact on winning.

I honestly think Towns has become massively underrated now by the national media. Like they talk about how Towns can't lead his team to the playoffs but when he had butler they were the 3 seed before Butler got hurt. Now Kat is 13-11 when he plays with Dlo (sample size obviously small) but then his next best player he has ever played with is Wiggins.
Curry couldn't make the playoffs in his 1 season with Wiggins and that was with another future HOFer Draymond. So should I say steph isn't good??? That is just silly to say.
I hope the wolves show out because I do think Kat is damn good and want him to prove the media wrong.

I won't shoot the messenger, Cool. So you're safe. But my bullet will hit Scalabrine right between his eyes. I agree with his assessment of the Russell deal. But he's just being ridiculous in his assessment of KAT relative to Simmons. Simmons elevated his team to the best record in the East? Did Brian forget about Joel Embiid? Or how about Tobias Harris. As for KAT, he's never played with another all-star except for that one season when he had one all-star teammate, Jimmy Butler. That season KAT elevated his team to the playoffs at age 21 with only one other allstar caliber player on the team. If not for Butler's injury, the Wolves were a likely 3 or 4 seed that season. Note that Simmons had Jimmy Butler on his team three years ago - along with Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Robert Covington. Imagine how KAT would have elevated the Wolves if he had Embiid, Harris, Butler and Robert Covington on the roster with him. Envision KAT elevating the Wolves on a roster that also included Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, Danny Green and Matisse Thybulle. Scalabrine's just being a little weenie. :)
